Is anyone over the age of 12 actually interested in who Ariana Grande's boyfriend is?

Only on Mumsnet, and here only for the chance to tut tut at her morals and feel virtuous.

OhmygodDont · 03/08/2023 12:44

I mean Ariana was a child star they are all messed up let’s face it. So far the worse that’s happened to her is a string of dicks.

're her saying her audiences were mainly black, I went to see her concert in Birmingham this year, the audience were about 90% white. The thing that really pissed me off about her was, about half way through the show, she said how glad she was to be in the UK, with all the terrible things happening in America right now. I assumed she was referring to things like the abortion ban, but no, it was about drag queens being banned! Lost huge respect for her after that...

She didn't say her audiences were mainly black. She said that they were mainly white (as proved by your own experience) but that her music is informed by her experience as a black woman.

Siouxiesiouxiesioux · 03/08/2023 14:01

Also, to those saying that Lizzo is racist against white people, the dancers suing her say she is racist against black people and behaved more favourably towards white employees.

Only if you don't know about the allegations against the producer.

Heywhatawobderfulkindofday · 03/08/2023 14:37

@FrippEnos I've just looked this up. Grim.

Well indeed but she snubbed her co star who tried to out it all and rumours are she got a hearty cheque while being one of the better treated stars, I meant she hasn’t ended up drug riddled alcoholic or any of the other ends to those who didn’t manage to settle back into a non famous role.

I’m not sure about the Lizzo accusations tbh, I’m not a huge fan, but I read through them and as someone else said they’re a bit wooly, they could have been exaggerated by people with an axe to grind. Not saying that I don’t believe them, but I will reserve judgement.

4 people have come out about her though. 4.

What? Strange comment.

LadyKenya · 03/08/2023 16:16

Tbf the whole thread is strange, and will just give some posters an opportunity to put the boot in, which seems to be the norm on MN nowadays.

lets also remember that she was a child at the time.

Four people isn’t that many in the world of fame. Imagine if you were famous and a couple of people decided to sue you for costs; you might get some chancer you went to school with saying that you bullied them and that they are still left with the trauma , then an old neighbour says that you launched a verbal assault at them when you asked them to turn the music down - all of it lies or half truths; and then others all pile in to seize the opportunity. I support MeToo but it was obvious that some of its pile-ons were people getting their own back because someone treated them badly (not violence or aggression but just not calling them or just using them for sex, which isn’t a crime). I don’t think we realise how weird it is to be famous and what it does to the people around the celebrity. It must give rise to a lot of jealousy and resentment especially if you are a big woman like Lizzo because she wis one of very few larger women who become stars.

Yes, I think I’ll join you. The thread has taken a very strange turn. I love MN but some of the things I read on here are really disturbing.

Manicpanicatthedisco · 03/08/2023 20:04

The documentary producer stepping forward as a witness for the dancers is pretty powerful in my opinion. Plus there is actual proof of what she did to that poor delivery driver. My younger sister has issues with mental illness (bipolar) and use to be a delivery driver. I hate to even imagine what would have happened if she'd be thrust into the limelight with an accusation like this from some vindictive and nasty celebrity. There is absolutely no excuse for a superstar to step on the little people who serve her like this and I do think she deserves to lose her career at this point.
