After facing her second plagiarism accusation over “Truth Hurts”, Lizzo is now being sued by the Postmates driver she previously accused of stealing her food earlier this year.
In September, Lizzo had tweeted at the company, saying: “This girl Tiffany W stole my food she lucky I don’t fight no more,” alongside a photo of the driver.
Lizzo withdrew her accusation, and publicly apologised for name-dropping Wells, acknowledging that her actions “put (her) in danger”. Now, the singer is being sued for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Wells claims that Lizzo’s actions have made her “subject to ridicule and humiliation, along with stress and anxiety”.*
According to Wells, who claims to have moved onto her next delivery after being unable to reach the musician at her Boston hotel, “Lizzo lacked reasonable grounds for any belief in the truth of her statements and acted negligently in failing to determine the true facts,” the suit reads.
It also asserts that Lizzo “acted with actual malice and reckless disregard for the truth when she tweeted the false statements of or concerning (Wells)”.
That was out and out bullying, putting a photo up of the woman and accusing her of stealing her food.
