I’m curious to hear what you named your dog, or cat (or any other pet you want to include).

and what do you think of human names for pets? I really like them, especially older people names like Mable or Frank.

I like human names for pets too, all my cats have had them. Currently I have Phoebe and Daisy. Daisy is the first cat whose shelter name I kept, because I'd already thought it would be a nice name before I ever saw her.

My cousin's daughter has a fabulous ginger called called Dudley

Chester, Lillie, hollie, Kevin, Cynthia, Tabatha, Paul and tiny baby Betty. My snake is called Sydney. We had two cats callled Ronnie and Reggie (though Ronnie got run over and killed a few months ago) both cats female.
My ex husband knows someone with a dog called Dave… she’s a girl lol!! Love human animal names!!!

Human names for dogs can seem ridiculous at times, it just depends on the dog and whether the name fits the dog's personality & temperament.

I used to have a rescue Pekingese hich my husband decided would be called 'Sheba', as in 'Queen of......' because she was so regal and dignified in her manner. Second rescue Pekingese I decided would be called 'Teddy' because in his puppy coat he looked like a fluffy teddy bear. Present Peke (my third of the breed 😁) is called 'Aristotle' because his KC registered name includes the surname 'Onassis', hence the breeder referred to the dog as 'Ari'.

My other dog, a rescue Coton de Tulear, was called 'Barbie' by the rescue society I got her from but I cahanged that to 'Bonnie' - because in the north of England where I'm from, to call a female 'bonny' means that she's a pretty girl, and Bonnie most certainly is (small size with a soft white fluffy coat).

My son always names the animals, and he has a penchant for turn-of-the-century names. 20th century.

Cats are called stuff like Ethel, Edwin, Gilbert, Louise, Betsy.

Pretty sure a dog would go the same way.

Border Collie is Daisy. (Previous border collies were Jake & Ollie.)
Golden Retriever is Cooper (3 weeks till he joins us)
Tortoiseshell cat is Harley Quinn.
Grey cat is Dave. (He's such a character.)
Kitten is Mindy. (Dave & Mindy belong to my son & moved out with him when he left home.We vidit them lots)

Larry, a ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Named after Larry David.

I much prefer more traditional dog names than the trend to human names, but each to their own. My rule always was to stand shouting it out loud, and see how it made you feel! That often helps people decide if a name is appropriate or not!

My lovely dog who died earlier in the year was Mabel! We have a Orlando the orange boy cat and Carlos, the tabby girl cat.
