I’m curious to hear what you named your dog, or cat (or any other pet you want to include).

and what do you think of human names for pets? I really like them, especially older people names like Mable or Frank.

Staffy called Eddie

madeleine85 · 18/07/2023 18:08

We have Gus (Angus). Love human names for animals. The rescue we used recommended picking one with a strong constantant sound which apparently helps recall.

MooseBreath · 18/07/2023 18:08

We have a Sheltie called Oscar.

It was either that, Merlin, or Gandalf.

Ginny - she was already named when we got her. But she's a redhead and I'm a Harry Potter fan so I'm quite happy about this.Smile

If we ever got her a brother, he would have to be Ron, naturally..

Used to have a Hollie and a Pippin. I like Fable, Nutkin, Teasel and Sable now for dogs. Mabel is quite boring to me. Beryl would be a good name if you like OAP names!

Like a PP, my dog is also Bonkers! It's ridiculous really, because he's so calm, patient and well behaved.
Cat is Pamfa.

I love human names on pets. I net a lovely Andy on a dog walk the other day!

I know a bullmastiff called Newton. His owner is not a scientist as I found out. It's because the dog is heavy.

Goose.

My neighbour dog is called Dave and it makes me smile every time I hear him chatting to his dog. "Good BOY Dave, what a good lad", so cute.

No way! One of mine is also Goose, my DH is a huge Top Gun fan.

I have a dog called Bake. His mate Jose passed away 2 years ago.

For some reason my dad could never remember Jose's name. He shout Chico, Pedro, Raul, Peppe, literally every Spanish name except Jose.

Meatystrips · 18/07/2023 18:34

The best dog name I ever heard was a cross-eyed staffie called Bert. It suited him perfectly.

GwinGwyn · 18/07/2023 18:35

Wholesome thread!

My cats were Bob and Sid, I like human names too. Sadly passed now but planning on getting a dog in the new year and he’ll be called Tedi (well that’s the plan, but he’ll be a semi rescue so might not have that choice.)

QuiteEnoughOfThat · 18/07/2023 18:37

We had a Tootsie cat too! We called her that as when she was a kitten she was a terror for chewing your feet if they would hang over the edge of the bed, plus she had a weird love for thrusting her face into our unoccupied shoes! I miss that naughty tortie.

Hellohah · 18/07/2023 18:39

My dog is Stanley.

I have 2 cats, they are George and Tabby.
