Aibu to think if I wore those heels day in day out on all those walk about visits she does, my feet would be hanging off!

She must have an Amazon subscription to Scholl Party feet inserts.

Hope she travels with a foot spa.

I imagine that as she probably weighs absolutely nothing, her weight bearing down into her feet isn't going to cause the sort of discomfort that the average woman might experience.

It's sad to think also that she just would not be permitted to do royal visits or walkabouts in flats; inherently sexist isn't it when Wills can wear comfy shoes.

She looks comfortable though, doesn't she. She's very lucky!

MyEyesHurt · 20/06/2023 22:08

Yes, good point. Whilst I would love to go around in the beautiful outfits and hair she sports each day, I would be trying to sneak on my trainers. Even some clarks flat boots - they're quite smart. Even a kitten heel!

I always think - high heels were invented by men!

Pre Covid I wore high heels pretty much every day for hours. I could dance in them, run in them , etc. after two years of trainers and slippers I can't go back to them. I wore some to a black tie do a few weeks ago and was like a baby giraffe trying to walk. So I guess it is just practice and toughening up your feet.

And your evidence for this is where?

keyboardkat · 20/06/2023 22:14

High heels are so passay (sic) dahling. Aren't they?

TimeFlysWhenYoureHavingRum · 20/06/2023 22:24

She doesn't walk around in them all day. 10 minuite photo opportunity then back in the Range Rover.

Never seen her or any other royal lady (unless pregnant - Eugenie I recall) in flats on formal engagements. I imagine it's just not the done thing and would be frowned upon.

Can it be true?!
I think she spends more than 10 mins at an engagement? 😭

QE2 would wear little chunky heels IIRC

The queen always wore relatively low sensible shoes so it’s personal preference for Catherine and others, it’s a bit of a power play to ensure they are taller than ‘mere mortals’

eurochick · 20/06/2023 22:42

Also they add height which gives Kate an even slimmer appearance.

LizzieSiddal · 20/06/2023 22:44

I think she gets it wrong turning up to some of her engagements. She’s visiting babies/children/mothers/educators etc and in ridiculously high heels. Looks silly imo and totally impractical.

Chickychoccyegg · 20/06/2023 22:44

I don't get the impression each engagement is particularly long? and lots of events will involve some sitting, so I think she's probably fine as she's used to it, chooses to wear those shoes and very unlikely to be wearing them for excessive lengths of time.

yipeeyiyay · 20/06/2023 22:44

She chooses to wear extremely high heels. She could easily choose to wear a 3 inch but she chooses a 5 inch. She's already 5'10". I think they look a bit dated tbh but then she's never been particularly fashion forward

WeAreTheHeroes · 20/06/2023 22:48

She's already heaps taller than me! 🤣

The late Queen was all "I don't care. I'm Queen."

the queen of spain has foot issues from wearing high heels.
oddly i've never spotted her photographed without them.

continentallentil · 20/06/2023 22:56

I liked the Queen’s miss marple shoes, if I was a royal lady that’s what I’d wear. Shiny ones.

Lonecatwithkitten · 21/06/2023 00:59

The queen wore higher heels when she was younger the picture below is of her coronation shoe she gradually got lower really only reaching the slight heel in the 00s.
Little unfair to compare Catherine to a lady on her 90s.

I think her shoes are often the nicest part of her outfit though they do often look LK Bennett

I used to wear heels all the time would walk for miles and would never have worn trainers with my work clothes

could dance in them run for buses only struggled on cobblestones

i love high heels a nice stiletto can look so elegant

now I rarely where heels apart from wedges or heeled boots and nothing too high. I’ve kept my favourites

StellaGibson2022 · 21/06/2023 02:31

I love her heels! But then again am not one of those who think they are old fashioned/out of vogue etc.

I thought her outfit today was stylish.

MrsMikeDrop · 21/06/2023 02:37

I used to wear shows like this (sigh!), you honestly get used to it. I could wear them all day, even run in them! My toes actually are in the shape of a pointy shoe!! 🙈

I don't think it's true that she wouldn't be permitted to perform her duties in flat shoes. Princess Di did, she was famous for it, and made flatties an option for work and formal wear for the rest of us.
She can do what she wants, she's Queen in waiting. Who's going to stop her? Princess Anne wears flatties on occasion too, and the Queen didn't wear skyscraper heels either.
