To ask any of you who may be psychic where is dds swimming costume before I have a row with dh?

I have a broken ankle. Dh has been folding laundry and putting it away. Just before half term I washed and dried dds expensive new swimming costume and hung it on the airer. It's gone. He swears blind he hasn't seen it. Dd had to miss swimming today as she didn't have a costume (she's in the sixth form but swims at lunchtime). She is normally super reliable and organised so when she says she hasn't taken it earlier I believe her. Dh has form for mixing up laundry and putting it away in the wrong place (we have four dcs). I am doing my best to shuffle round the house looking for it. Dh has washed his hands of it.

Please 🙏 psychics of mumsnet, where is the fecking thing?!

Tucked in with the sheets/towels in the airing cupboard?

Nope. I've looked there. Good shout though 👌

Still wet in a plastic bag in the car.

No this is the first day she wanted it since half term - she didn't swim last week as had exams all week.

It's in his underpants drawer

MedievalNun · 20/06/2023 10:57

In an underwear drawer. That's where mine end up if DH is in charge. Not necessarily my underwear drawer, but definitely an underwear drawer.

AuntieStella · 20/06/2023 10:57

Inside a duvet cover or pillowcase - possibly one that is now on a bed.

In the school PE bag of one of the other DC (possibly now on the floor of the changing room of the school of said DC - so I hope it's name-taped)

Off having a party with a number of single socks

Fatkittythinkitty · 20/06/2023 10:58

In one of your other kids drawers. Probably the most unlikely one. So if she's a 17/18 yo old girl and you happen to have a tiny toddler Ds, it'll unaccountably be in his drawers. And you'll never find out what your dh's thought process was for putting it there

howmuchtotell · 20/06/2023 11:00

in the washing machine

lostinfusion · 20/06/2023 11:01

it's in the drawer where you keep your bras op

Isithalfterm · 20/06/2023 11:03

Definitely someone else’s underwear drawer or kitbag <bitter voice of experience>

Wereisit · 20/06/2023 11:04

I bet it is in an underwear drawer. Off to hobble upstairs and look

Your husbands are exactly the same as mine I see! Mine has also got the laundry responsibility since this year (after 15+ years of it being mine) and his strategic incompetence won't get him out of it this time.
So we do put up with random items ending up in random places. This morning my teen looked for her white t-shirts but found white pillow cases in their place (which normally go in the cupboard with bedding). Items like their bra tops and sports clothing indeed are most likely to disappear into the boys cupboard for mysterious reasons...

PickySlackTastic · 20/06/2023 11:10

No idea, just here for the reveal (hopefully)

It is so fecking annoying. He seems to have no understanding or knowledge about who's clothes are whose and no grasp of the fact that it's madly difficult if key items go missing. If we can't find it I'll have to buy her another costume which is so annoying. It wouldn't be too bad if he didn't totally grey rock any suggestion that he must have put it away (as he's the only person that's been doing it recently)

Why not give him any swimwear and ask him to put it away? See where he place s it !

ThatFraggle · 20/06/2023 11:19

Fell behind the boiler?

Folded in with something.

Love this! Sadly he's now sulking and saying if he gets accused of losing things he just won't do any more laundry.

In an envelope with the divorce papers you’ll serve him?

In a shop where he’ll go and buy it using his own fun money, along with a card for your DD and one for you to apologise?

This is a brilliant idea. Going to use this next time something goes missing. Maybe I'll finally find that "safe place" where I keep putting stuff.

Pinkgreenbluepurple · 20/06/2023 11:27

In the corner of a fitted sheet, inside a duvet cover?

What colour is it? If it’s black check his sock drawer, check with your tights.

TokyoSushi · 20/06/2023 11:32

I also think he's classed it as underwear.

DH does this, it's so annoying when it's an important item, he often mixes mine & DD's clothes up, she is a petite age 9 and I am a not petite size 14!!

I have items, like I would with this swimming costume that I mentally know where they are at all times because it would be a nightmare if they were lost, the same in this house applies to DS school tie. I'm annoyed on your behalf OP!

Ihavethisthingwithcolour · 20/06/2023 11:32

fallen in to a washing basket underneath dirty washing… ? Or in a carrier bag by the front door?

Lolapusht · 20/06/2023 11:35

Quick prayer to St. Jude who recently found our brand new remote control which had been lost lost for weeks plus a very nice pocket knife belonging to DH I had borrowed and thought I’d never see again 😳
