To ask any of you who may be psychic where is dds swimming costume before I have a row with dh?

I have a broken ankle. Dh has been folding laundry and putting it away. Just before half term I washed and dried dds expensive new swimming costume and hung it on the airer. It's gone. He swears blind he hasn't seen it. Dd had to miss swimming today as she didn't have a costume (she's in the sixth form but swims at lunchtime). She is normally super reliable and organised so when she says she hasn't taken it earlier I believe her. Dh has form for mixing up laundry and putting it away in the wrong place (we have four dcs). I am doing my best to shuffle round the house looking for it. Dh has washed his hands of it.

Please 🙏 psychics of mumsnet, where is the fecking thing?!

Try in the bathroom with the towels that's just been washed /folded

Beachhutnut · 20/06/2023 14:34

Where is the airer? Could it have fallen down the side of something nearby ( washing machine)?

Bookworm20 · 20/06/2023 14:35

Also if he absolutely swears he hasn't moved it, could dd have got it off the airer last week and then realised she didn't need it because of exams and its actually in her swim bag or shoved in her room somewhere?

If dd2 is at Uni, was she back for the half term last week and has accidently packed it with her stuff and taken it back with her to uni?

Beachhutnut · 20/06/2023 14:35

Or he could have done a me and put it in a random kitchen cupboard 😜

dearJayne · 20/06/2023 14:36

Tucked in a t shirt that's been folded and put away.

squidgybits · 20/06/2023 15:01

No idea but it's replacement is in an online shop waiting to be paid for by dozy DH

Balloonhearts · 20/06/2023 15:08

Is it in a holiday suitcase in a cupboard? so you know where it is

seratoninmoonbeams · 20/06/2023 15:09

I'm always surprised how many people say 'why aren't they doing they're own washing etc'. Maybe im a control freak but if my DS did their own washing I reckon we'd double our electricity and water bills. I'd rather just chuck it all in and sort it out. They can put it away.

I think most people are asking why she isn't putting her own clothes away.

EnthENd · 20/06/2023 15:22

Old cliched response time: You don't have a lost swimwear problem, you have a husband problem.

MyGrandmaLizzie · 20/06/2023 15:23

Cat's litter tray? Once found a pair of DH boxers in litter tray. Kleptomaniac cat in our house. Slinky Malinky.

iPreferBooks · 20/06/2023 15:27

in someones clothes drawer or back of wardrobe? if its not in plain sight it must be folded within something. For what its worth it might be useful getting perhaps two or three spares to avoid any possible future scenario like this.

Crucible · 20/06/2023 15:30

It's fallen down behind the radiator.

londonmummy1966 · 20/06/2023 15:31

In whichever drawer she/you/her sister keep vest tops

EggInANest · 20/06/2023 15:31

With Sports and outdoor stuff under the stairs or cloakroom?

Folded in between T shirts or pyjamas?

What else was on the airer? It will be mixed in with that.

Bookworm20 · 20/06/2023 16:36

So he is now unable to find it?

Tell him to pretend to be a woman and look for it.

ClawedButler · 20/06/2023 17:03

My DH and DD are often amazed at my near-psychic ability to find things they have lost. They will come to me after a long and fruitless search, I will huff, winch myself up, stomp off in the direction of the place they have said it absolutely is NOT, and find it in seconds.

This is not because I am psychic but because I HAVE EYES AND I USE THEM. We call it doing a mommy look now. DH and DD couldn't find water if they fell out of a boat.

SisterAgatha · 20/06/2023 17:05

Wardrobe. Top shelf.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 20/06/2023 17:10

In with somebody else's T-shirts because he picked everything up and stuffed it in with them as he couldn't be arsed to think about where it should go?

Or started to go in with them, then he realised it was still in his hand and he angrily shoved it in the bottom drawer with jumpers and jeans because it would fit in a tiny space.

Whataretalkingabout · 20/06/2023 17:21

Behind the hoover? Or under the sink with cleaning rags?

TerribleLady · 20/06/2023 20:29

In the bottom of the wardrobe!

RhiWrites · 20/06/2023 20:42

Sometimes my items in over filled drawers fall down the back. So it could be back there.

or
he’s hung it up in a wardrobe
he’s put it in a cupboard with sports stuff
it’s with picnic blankets somewhere

aviatorsrus · 20/06/2023 20:58

This

Wereisit · 20/06/2023 21:09

It's well and truly gone. It's absolutely nowhere. Dd now has a stop gap sports direct costume and I'll have to order another one next week. Dh is sulking.
