To ask any of you who may be psychic where is dds swimming costume before I have a row with dh?

I have a broken ankle. Dh has been folding laundry and putting it away. Just before half term I washed and dried dds expensive new swimming costume and hung it on the airer. It's gone. He swears blind he hasn't seen it. Dd had to miss swimming today as she didn't have a costume (she's in the sixth form but swims at lunchtime). She is normally super reliable and organised so when she says she hasn't taken it earlier I believe her. Dh has form for mixing up laundry and putting it away in the wrong place (we have four dcs). I am doing my best to shuffle round the house looking for it. Dh has washed his hands of it.

Please 🙏 psychics of mumsnet, where is the fecking thing?!

In the garage in a box with dh's weekend Clarice outfits...

It is so fecking annoying. He seems to have no understanding or knowledge about who's clothes are whose and no grasp of the fact that it's madly difficult if key items go missing. If we can't find it I'll have to buy her another costume which is so annoying. It wouldn't be too bad if he didn't totally grey rock any suggestion that he must have put it away (as he's the only person that's been doing it recently)

Omg mine is the same! Teen DD is a size 8, I'm a 14/16 yet DH claims he can't see any difference in our clothes on the dryer. MINE ARE DOUBLE THE SIZE MATE!!!!

CC222 · 20/06/2023 12:51

Ask St Anthony to help you find it then have another look everywhere, even if you've already looked there. Works for me every time 🤞🏻

MistressoftheDarkSide · 20/06/2023 12:56

If you have a dog with a wicker basket under a sort of breakfast bar in your kitchen, it might be close to that. (Not particularly psychic but enjoy a punt on these things - part of my quantum research lol).

Hope you find it anyway 😊

redskytwonight · 20/06/2023 13:01

What else was on the airer? Where would DH have put those things (you'll note I don't say "where should they be?

Is it wrapped in a towel?

Changington · 20/06/2023 13:05

Just letting you know I'm sitting here quietly seething at the audacity of this man to refuse to look for something he's lost and sulk like a baby about it. I'm disproportionately bothered by it. 😠

Hide something of his he's left out, just for the fun of it, then whinge about "not bothering to tidy next time". 😁

Not the point of the thread, but I have more swimming costumes than I have knickers I can’t get my head around any regular swimmer only having one.

My DC have one swimsuit and they swim weekly. What's the point in having more than one when you're still growing?

Maray1967 · 20/06/2023 13:26

Do you have an ironing basket? Any chance he could have chucked it in there?

fiftyandfat · 20/06/2023 13:32

What a childish man. Sorry you have to put up with that behaviour OP.

Good for you. We've had lots over the years but dd hasn't swum for a while and has just got back into it. I bought one planned to get another if she kept on with it.

Yeah he's really childish sometimes. Can't take any perceived criticism. He genuinely thinks he's an absolute hero because he does laundry occasional and empties the dishwasher- unless you actively ask him to do it, when he'll suddenly remember something far more important.

TrivialSoul · 20/06/2023 14:02

Hope you find it OP. I have just returned 2 of dd's t-shirts to her room and 3 pairs of DS's boxers to his. All were found in my clothes drawers after dh put the washing away!!
For those suggesting st Anthony... I feel I may need his help in future, what do you do, how do you get his help and do you need to be catholic or would he help a lapsed protestant too???

ChristmasFluff · 20/06/2023 14:09

I don't know how it's got there, but I think it is in a company car - or other 'bonus' form of transport provided by an institution. So could also be a free school bus I guess.

literalviolence · 20/06/2023 14:10

Under your daughter's bed I reckon. Or wedged down at the side of the bed.

Redshoeblueshoe · 20/06/2023 14:11

I bet it's mixed in with his t-shirts. After all no one would ever look there for it.

DemonicCaveMaggot · 20/06/2023 14:15

If it's a bright colour it is in a drawer with something else the same colour as he has got the two confused.

LittleBlueBrioTrain · 20/06/2023 14:16

My husband does this and I'm sure it'll be the thing that drives me to divorce.

Recent conversation after returning from a holiday cottage...

Me: have you seen the hand soap? It was in the bathroom bag you unpacked.
Him: nope, not seen it, wasn't in the bag
Me: it was because I put it in there. Clear bottle with a fish on it.
Him: nope, definitely didn't unpack any soap, I haven't seen it

Fast forward a couple of hours to child bathtime...

Him: do you mean this soap?
Me: yes, that clear soap bottle with a fish on that you swear blind you didn't unpack 😡

Rinse and repeat at least once a day...

Lilbunnyfufu · 20/06/2023 14:19

I couldn't find Ds's swimming shorts last week I found them yesterday inside a pillow case

INeedAnotherName · 20/06/2023 14:20

Frisk your husband!

Seriously though if it's not in any underwear drawers then I would say it's been rolled up with a towel so it's ready to go (even if it's not a swim/beach towel) or since it's brightly coloured, a tee-shirt drawer.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 20/06/2023 14:20

It'd be in my DH's underwear drawer as I'd mistake it for his boxers. Do you usd radiators to dry too and it's fallen down back?

legalalien · 20/06/2023 14:22

Try wherever you keep teatowels and dishcloths in the kitchen. Very easy to overlook the kitchen drawers when searching for fabric items.

Allhailkingcharlie · 20/06/2023 14:23

Hidden in a pillowcase which has been washed and put away

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 20/06/2023 14:31

Cupboard under the stairs.

He got sick of seeing it so chucked it in there out of the way.

Bookworm20 · 20/06/2023 14:32

Did he by any chance just put it in her room and she accidently swiped it up with some dirty laundry and its now in the wash basket again?
