DH is on baby shift tonight in living room with Moses basket.

I had a bubble bath, washed my hair and shaved then moisturised with some Neals Yard goodies that were a present (divine).

I changed the bed sheets to my new super soft but lightweight ones and I'm sat in bed with a small glass of red wine and Mumsnet and the bed to myself for the night.

I gave baby her last feed at 11 before DH goes on shift and I bathed her before that, she fell asleep in the warm water and I massaged her feet then dried her and moisturised her dry hands and face and talced her little creases. We had lovely snuggles whilst I fed her and now both of them after fast asleep.

It really is life's little moments like bathing your baby or fresh bed sheets that make me the happiest.

What are yours?

Loved reading these!

We get so caught up in material things as humans, sometimes it's nice to be reminded of the things that cost little or nothing that bring so much happiness!

Sat having a pint with all your adult children and their partners in a nice beer garden having a chat.

hattie43 · 17/06/2023 10:30

I've just had one , a walk on the beach with my dogs .

AnneElliott · 17/06/2023 10:32

Cup of tea in the garden in the early morning before everyone else gets up.

Playing with the boy cat who is terrified of strangers but for some reason wants attention when I'm hanging out the washing!

BitOutOfPractice · 17/06/2023 10:33

Doing my bullet journal. Cheese and onion toastie in my local cafe. Walking through the park to work.

Plunkplink · 17/06/2023 10:33

Mine’s a vicarious pleasure, I like seeing the cat asleep on the bed, he’s so happy and content that I catch it off him.

Florissante · 17/06/2023 10:34

Freshly laundered sheets.
Getting into bed on a cold night and snuggling under the duvet.
Getting a shower when I feel particularly grubby.
An icy cold drink.

mondaytosunday · 17/06/2023 10:40

I love clean sheets too, but hate the faff about putting on the fitted sheets (always catch my knuckles on the bed head) and getting the duvet cover on! So it may be a pleasure but it's also a PITA.

MerryHen · 17/06/2023 10:42

Love all these ☺️

One of mine is going for a walk on my own somewhere in nature (woods or beach) and taking a moment to stop and breath in deeply, especially if it's quite early in the day with that lovely dewey smell in the air.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 17/06/2023 10:44

Lie ins
First cup of tea in the morning
Pot of tea and some bacon after a run

Timeturnerplease · 17/06/2023 10:45

Seeing our DDs play together in the garden.

Sitting down after putting the children to bed on the first day of a school holiday and having an evening free of work in front of me (teacher).

Chips, cheese and curry sauce.

A night without a toddler and/or preschooler in our bed.

Any moment to read peacefully.

Applesandpears01 · 17/06/2023 10:48

@2bazookas I have a almost one year old you can bath, when we take her out of the tub we do tick tock clock with her and she giggles were just starting to see her little teggies

golddustwomen · 17/06/2023 10:49

When my kids are playing together and completely belly laughing.
Friday nights going to bed with no alarm set.
A freshly cleaned house.
Drying clothes outside.
A cold pint in the pub.
Anything to do with Christmas.
My nan and grandad.

hettiethehare · 17/06/2023 10:52

Cuppa and the paper in bed first thing - best way to start the day.

A cold pint in a pub garden on a hot summer's day.

Wallywobbles · 17/06/2023 10:52

Head massage at the hairdressers.

feralunderclass · 17/06/2023 10:53

I don't mean to be that person, but why does the baby have to sleep in the living room? Surely it sleeps in with the parents? Genuine question BTW, it's been a long time since I had a baby!

Wallywobbles · 17/06/2023 10:54

Dragging small kids out of bed before school when it snows so we can play in it before it melts.

dizzydizzydizzy · 17/06/2023 10:54

Clean sheets
Meditating
Coffee and croissant and reading at a coffee shop on my day off, especially when I can do it outside (I'll do it outside in all weathers except pouring rain)

Theoldwoman · 17/06/2023 10:56

Lovely for you OP! How old is your baby? Newborn cuddles and smells are the best.

For me:

Definitely clean sheets
Pottering in my vegetable garden
Walking the dog in nature
Hot chocolate and a cookie

WickedSerious · 17/06/2023 11:07

Having the house to myself for an entire day,I can't remember the last time it happened though.

Highdaysandholidays1 · 17/06/2023 11:10

Watching little birds hopping about.

Cup of tea in the morning.

If those two things are happening, the day can never be a terrible one.

Softoprider · 17/06/2023 11:14

So many things in life give me pleasure.......

Being alone in the house is one of them
Walking my dogs
Having family over for a meal. It is always fun and mayhem.
Saying goodbye to grandchildren when parents collect them :)
Driving in my ancient car with the roof down in nice weather
Watching my grandson play football
Reading in the garden
Going to bed early - blissful !

Thelnebriati · 17/06/2023 11:20

Going outside and looking at the night sky. I remember one amazing moonrise, for the first time I got the sense of the moon being a planet in a vast space instead of just a silver disc in the sky.
(I know the moon is not a planet, before the pedants leap.)

WaterBaby9 · 17/06/2023 11:23

Clean house. Empty washing machine. Fresh bed sheets. Take away and a long bath with my vape and a glass of prosecco 🥹

hookiewookie29 · 17/06/2023 11:24

That short amount of time in the mornings when I have peace and quiet, make a cuppa and read, preferably in the garden if the weather is good.
