DH is on baby shift tonight in living room with Moses basket.

I had a bubble bath, washed my hair and shaved then moisturised with some Neals Yard goodies that were a present (divine).

I changed the bed sheets to my new super soft but lightweight ones and I'm sat in bed with a small glass of red wine and Mumsnet and the bed to myself for the night.

I gave baby her last feed at 11 before DH goes on shift and I bathed her before that, she fell asleep in the warm water and I massaged her feet then dried her and moisturised her dry hands and face and talced her little creases. We had lovely snuggles whilst I fed her and now both of them after fast asleep.

It really is life's little moments like bathing your baby or fresh bed sheets that make me the happiest.

What are yours?

Degrading flowers???? 😂

'Call yourself a rose?Ha! I've seen better looking cabbages!'

That sort of thing.

RedBonnet · 17/06/2023 08:41

Having the house to myself for a few days.

Day 1 I spring clean and put hubby's 'stuff' out of sight.

After that I relax.

That's all I need

PS it's not that I don't want DH here, he's just very very messy/untidy and I'm a Monica, so it's bliss when he's not here

Aw... I so miss bathing babies. Has anyone got one they need bathed?
Clean sheets are still a pleasure.
So is new soap. Mine is French, I buy a dozen bars at a time so there is a little me-time delight while I pick which one to use next.

Totally with you on the baby baths. My favourite time of day. I did a ahhhh when reading the ops post. It's lovely. I used to love laying on the floor next to my boys when they were little and tickle their tummy. Their belly laughs set me up for the day
Moving on now though, 1st coffee if the day;
Clean sheets washed hair and shaved legs are lush, esp if I can watch TV alone in bed

Smidge001 · 17/06/2023 08:47

I really want to know what @TeeBee actuwlly meant by degrading flowers!

superplumb · 17/06/2023 08:49

Oh one more although I don't have the time this year but when I go to my allotment on an early Sunday morning, all alone and hear the church bells. I'm not religious but I love that sound

continentallentil · 17/06/2023 08:51

Quiet weirdly at this time of year I like the crumpled sweaty feeling I have at the end of the day… followed by an evening shower. It says summer is here.

Wisenotboring · 17/06/2023 08:51

Such a lovely thread!

Sat outside on these warm.evenings chatting with my husband or children.

My husband brings me a cup of tea in bed and I really appreciate just sitting there drinking it with the online papers and mumsnet.

At work, I have a couple of long mornings in my room where I can.get my work done. I'm also making the space much neater and organised. I always sit there thinking what a lovely job I have where I can work hard at work but no-longer bring mountains of work home.

Sitting all cuddled up in the evening after the Christmas decorations are up with everything tidy and a candle burning.

Watering my plants in the evening.

There are more, but I can't think now!

Rattlethestars · 17/06/2023 08:53

Absolutely nothing beats a good book and a cup of tea for me.
But also:
Fresh, clean bedding
A bubble bath at the perfect temperature
Being in nature
My favourite chocolate
Listening to my favourite music/songs

With my kids: listening to my son's giggle, and seeing my daughter get excited about the smallest of things (like seeing a ladybird or an impromptu ice cream)

SilverGlitterBaubles · 17/06/2023 08:54

The first cuppa in the morning.
A chilled glass of wine with DH in the garden on a sunny evening.
Family meals and random funny conversations with teen DCs.

Workawayxx · 17/06/2023 08:57

Clean sheets
watching 2 yo dd sitting with a book telling herself the story
a solo wander round the shops in my lunch break when I’m on the office
A 10 minute walk in the sun by myself before I start work on a work from home day.
10 mins of reading Jack Reacher books - currently working my way through DPs collection and they’re a great antidote to a fairly routine life

@JennyWren87 whats your Korean beauty routine? Love Korean and Japanese skincare 😍.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 17/06/2023 09:08

I think @TeeBee meant to say ‘dead-heading’ but 😈 snuck in.

For the past year, I have read the +⛪️ Office in the morning and last thing at night. It starts the day calmly, and puts it into perspective at the end.

Tidsleytiddy · 17/06/2023 09:19

The first coffee after I’ve done the tidying up and put washing on

My cat coming in from a night on the tiles and is so happy to be indoors he’s buzzing with pleasure

Watering my plants in the summer

Finding a good series to watch and not wanting it to end

Hearing the key in the door and knowing my son is home safely

My sister messaging me because she always has something interesting or funny to say

Mulling things over with an old friend and a few drinks

thatsn0tmyname · 17/06/2023 09:21

Glass of wine whilst admiring my garden.

strawberriesarenot · 17/06/2023 09:22

My garden and the wildlife in it. And the roses and the peonies.

Oblomov23 · 17/06/2023 09:22

Many of the things listed. Bath. Alone in the house. Sit in bed with a glass of wine and MN.

Fightyouforthatpie · 17/06/2023 09:24

Having a shower. Most days I thank my lucky stars I live in a place where I can just turn on the water and shower.

BucketofTeaMassiveCake · 17/06/2023 09:26

A nice cup of tea in a pretty cup and saucer

Flowers coming up in my little garden

Creative hobbies which give pleasure - a pretty summer dress, items for the home such as a patchwork cushion

Home made cake

A good lipstick

Taking time out to read a chapter of the current book which is on the go

Stressybetty · 17/06/2023 09:30

Fresh bedding after a shower. First cup of tea back in bed on a Sunday morning. Having all the washing finished and and put away smelling of outside. Seeing our dogs happily eating breakfast. My dog Rosie coming to snuggle up on me like a baby with her head under my chin. Good film on telly in PJ's at the end of the day.

Seems bonkers right now given it’s 27 degrees during the day but, on a cold night, getting into a bed with the electric blanket on. I do it most nights and it is the greatest feeling for a cold blooded soul like myself. It is one of my great pleasures in life.

I am exactly the same! It's such a nice feeling!

twilightcafe · 17/06/2023 09:39

An empty house. Preferably overnight, too.

grayhairdontcare · 17/06/2023 09:49

Pottering in the garden
A walk with a audiobook
Fresh proper coffee

PowerTulle · 17/06/2023 09:57

Having the beach to myself with DDog

Seeing bats flying over the garden in the evening

Fresh flowers, either bought or from the garden. I love a Jam jar of roses and honeysuckle in the bedroom. Smells amazing.

jeaux90 · 17/06/2023 09:58

A pint on my own outside a local pub watching the Swifts fly and feed on the wing.

Stressybetty · 17/06/2023 10:05

Today realising my fizzy cola bottles are arriving today and not Tuesday 😂

dollymixedup · 17/06/2023 10:07

Lidl pastries and a good cup of coffee with some light gardening afterwards. Always perfect start to my day off. Sudoku, chocolate. Walking the dog.

A new pen. Freshly washed bedding. Adding to my 50th bday playlist. Daydreaming about heavy gardening!
