DH is on baby shift tonight in living room with Moses basket.

I had a bubble bath, washed my hair and shaved then moisturised with some Neals Yard goodies that were a present (divine).

I changed the bed sheets to my new super soft but lightweight ones and I'm sat in bed with a small glass of red wine and Mumsnet and the bed to myself for the night.

I gave baby her last feed at 11 before DH goes on shift and I bathed her before that, she fell asleep in the warm water and I massaged her feet then dried her and moisturised her dry hands and face and talced her little creases. We had lovely snuggles whilst I fed her and now both of them after fast asleep.

It really is life's little moments like bathing your baby or fresh bed sheets that make me the happiest.

What are yours?

Having my first cuppa of the day in the garden while everyone else is asleep. Then pootling around degrading flowers and watering the garden. Sheer bliss.

😂Isn't that against the law 😂

Mummadeze · 17/06/2023 07:08

Fresh sheets are mine too, but I love getting in bad and watching an episode of one of my favourite shows on TV before I go to sleep. Seeing my daughter smile or hearing her laugh. Looking at flowers and trees when I am outside. I always marvel at how beautiful flowers are. Buying new books at WH Smith’s at the airport before a trip. Singing.

Gracewithoutend · 17/06/2023 07:13

Walking the dog at sundown when the birds are doing their final chirping before settling down for the night. The air is still warm, there's a slight breeze off the sea and the dog is convinced he's found rabbits. (He hasn't!) The world's bedding down for the night and is at peace.
We are so lucky to live in this beautiful country.

Shoxfordian · 17/06/2023 07:14

I love when I have time to read without needing to look at the clock and do something else; just being totally immersed in a book.

Itsallaloadofbollocks · 17/06/2023 07:14

Another vote for clean sheets.
Pet sniffing, provided they haven't been up to anything disgusting.
Beans on toast.
The first misty autumnal morning when you can tell summers over.
Snow. Still have the childish excitement.

FoxtrotOscarFoxtrotOscar · 17/06/2023 07:19

A milky coffee and flaky croissant.

LyndaSnellsSniff · 17/06/2023 07:21

Archers Omnibus, pot of tea and doing a jigsaw.
Admiring a freshly cleaned bathroom (before it gets trashed again).
An iced chocolate drink in our local castle grounds in any season and watching the lawn bowls club doing their stuff. I realise that one is very area-specific but the members of the lawn bowls club seem to be so content and happy. It's Incredibly restful watching them.
A woodland walk in autumn with the promise of a decent hot chocolate at the end.

Childhoodnostalgia · 17/06/2023 07:28

That first cup of coffee ☕️
Sitting in the garden early before anyone else is up listening to the birds.
Getting into a freshly made bed after a lovely shower.
Buying old second hand books of EBay for peanuts.

I love this too.

Being on my own in the garden at the start of a warm day, drinking a coffee and taking in nature. It’s wonderful.

DustyLee123 · 17/06/2023 07:34

Due to the hot weather I’ve been leaving water out for the birds, and watching them drink and splash really is lovely.
So I sit on my garden chair watching the birds, looking at who is flying over me on Flight Radar, drinking cold latte ☺️

cartagenagina · 17/06/2023 07:36

An afternoon nap on the sofa with DCAT.

A quiet walk on the beach soaking up the suns rays into my aching body (I’m getting old!)

Watching animals enjoy themselves

Fairislefandango · 17/06/2023 07:37

Getting up before anyone else and knitting in the peace of the early morning with a cup of lovely loose-leaf tea.

Swimming in a lake on a warm day (haven't done that yet this summer).

New stationery, even for work. I've been a teacher for decades and I still get excited about getting my new teacher planner and writing all my class lists and the days' dates in it Blush

Coffee in the garden

Watching birds at the feeder and in the birdbath (go away random cats)

Summer evening or morning picnic and walks

Home baked cakes and other nice food

Going somewhere with my teens. They're so reluctant to go anywhere these days. I miss taking them out and about where everywhere was an exciting adventure.
Treasure that if you have young dc!

Furrydogmum · 17/06/2023 07:44

Walking my dog first thing in the morning, then watering my garden, before sitting with the dogs with a milky coffee in the sunshine watching the birds feeding.

iwishiwasonacruise · 17/06/2023 07:46

My kids are teenagers now, so the cute moments are few and far between lol, but I bought a couple of sunbeds this week, and last night my daughter came and snuggled under the blanket with me, and we just lay there, randomly belting out some Christmas songs that she chose, til we couldn't sing for laughing 🙈 and it was fab! I rarely get silly moments now...

HareRaising · 17/06/2023 07:47

Early morning coffee in the garden watching the birds
Watching the sun set in the evening over the fields
Clear starry nights
Woodland walks
My animals
Growing food/flowers in my garden
Autumn

Scrunchymum · 17/06/2023 07:56

A walk by the sea in the morning.

When my dcs wake up in the morning all sleepy & smiley. My dd always says with a smile ‘good morning mummy’ and baby ds always smiles and coos at me, whilst reaching out a touch my face🥹

Fresh coffee made by dh

fresh sheets from the washing line

The smell of freshly cut grass. The smell of roses, honeysuckle, any flower really. I love when I’m outside and suddenly get hit with a floral scent from the breeze.

Just cuddles with the dcs in general. I co sleep and love baby dc falling asleep next to me.

When the laundry basket is empty!

Having lunch with my mum & dad

Going for a pub lunch

Flying a kite

When dh strokes my hair/face/arm. I love it, I wish I could pay someone to do it for an hour🤣

Brendabigbaps · 17/06/2023 08:01

Hearing my “teenage” daughter laugh, really laugh like she used to.

A just cleaned house from top to bottom, nobody else in it and a glass of wine on the sofa. Never happens anymore.

Sitting in my big swingy egg chair on an evening and the dog comes and joins me. You can tell it’s one of her very favourite things.

smelling fresh hay and horses

Tygertiger · 17/06/2023 08:03

I’m sitting in my garden now with my coffee, just me and the dog. DH and kids still asleep. DDog is very happy sniffing garden smells and pootling. First time I’ve sat out this year as the garden has been such a mess. Last week we did a huge garden tidy and I pressure-washed my little patio knowing that I would be able to do exactly this, this morning, and I’ve been looking forward to it all week. Just me and ddog and the birds, nice coffee in my favourite mug and the Saturday newspaper on the iPad, it’s bliss.

Nofreshstarthere22 · 17/06/2023 08:06

concernedalot · 17/06/2023 08:17

A hot bath on a cold day
Clean sheets and an immaculate bed to climb into
dropping off to sleep listening to heavy rain on the bedroom window
Looking out at my street at heavy snow at night and noticing how peaceful it is
driving home from work when you've got time off afterwards
watching TV in bed with the first morning cuppa
having nothing in the ironing pile
that moment just before you drop off to sleep
A clean organised house
Enjoying a new series/box set (rarely seems to happen with me)
the smell of new books

TheMoth · 17/06/2023 08:32

Saturday morning breakfast in the garden, after a lie in until 730. By myself. It rained last night, so feels lovely and fresh.

I'm usually up by 6 and breakfast is a 20 minute rush, interspersed with shouting at the kids to move it. I look forward to this all week.
