No, why?

GeriKellmansUpdo · 05/06/2023 12:14

No. There are several where I live.

villamariavintrapp · 05/06/2023 12:14

No of course not

Fightyouforthatpie · 05/06/2023 12:15

YABU

CremeEggThief · 05/06/2023 12:15

No, because I mind my own business and it's rude to stare. I probably wouldn't even notice if it was a white man in a headscarf!

Infusionist · 05/06/2023 12:15

No, there are plenty of white women in headscarfs about.

I’m white and my husband and in-laws are Muslim. I’ve occasionally considered a hijab when I can’t be bothered to sort my hair.

Timeforabiscuit · 05/06/2023 12:15

No, not out of the ordinary.

SmirnoffIceIsNice · 05/06/2023 12:16

Nope. It's a very diverse world nowadays.

SoloMamabyChoice · 05/06/2023 12:16

Not proud of it but yes did do a double take at a white English heritage woman on my uni course who wore a hijab and matching robe. I didn’t do it again and would like to think I didn’t stare, but it was just such an unusual thing to see and I guess I was curious.

WandaWonder · 05/06/2023 12:16

No and there is no possible context that would make me look twice really

Alargeoneplease89 · 05/06/2023 12:16

It's 21st century, it's really not shocking.

Stalkedbyzombies · 05/06/2023 12:17

A lot of orthodox Jewish white women wear headscarves instead of wigs to cover their hair.

SoloMamabyChoice · 05/06/2023 12:17

Looks like I’m the only twat then.

LivingNextDoorToNorma · 05/06/2023 12:17

I honestly can’t imagine looking twice. I’m not sure if even notice.

IHeartGeneHunt · 05/06/2023 12:17

No, there's quite a lot of white women in headscarves where I live.

imisscashmere · 05/06/2023 12:18

I don’t “stare” at anyone.

Todaypicard · 05/06/2023 12:18

There are lots of cultures that wear head scarves. There are a few women I see often near me that cover their hair - so no I wouldn’t think twice about it

Elysiaxo · 05/06/2023 12:18

Would probably do a double take but wouldn't stare, no.

Coolhwip · 05/06/2023 12:19

I wouldn't but I know other people do.

I work in a diverse company but I do see people staring at colleagues wearing a headscarf.

This country is still as far from egalitarian as I would like.

itsmylife7 · 05/06/2023 12:20

Me personally, no, but if it's in an area with fewer 'scarf or head covering ' women , then I'd imagine people would stare.

Theunamedcat · 05/06/2023 12:21

No not at all we have a diverse community

TheGoddessFreyja · 05/06/2023 12:21

No not at all xx

plantchef23 · 05/06/2023 12:21

Speaking from recent experience this weekend, yes - I looked twice. But only because it's not often seen where I live. I assumed she was married to someone with a faith that valued that. So I looked again to see, and yes she was. She was enjoying her day with her husband and children. Then I stopped looking and went in with the rest of my day. Didn't think about it again until this post.

It wasn't a judgemental look. But more one out of curiosity. I'd also do a double take if someone was wearing a top hat inside, or perhaps stare even more if someone was wearing something really 'out of the norm' publicly (eg: the girl in McDonalds at 11am wearing cream sparkly fishnet trousers and a top (entirely see through) with just a thong and bra on as she stood next to us at the ordering screens. Believe me. I wasn't the only one staring...:

ditalini · 05/06/2023 12:21

No. It's not very unusual to see white women in head scarves/cover-up clothing round here. I sometimes wear a scarf over my head in the winter if it's wet and I've forgotten my umbrella.

Mrsjayy · 05/06/2023 12:22

No of course not, why ?
