Sticking with the theme, there are about 1m muslim women in the UK and some will cover their heads. There are about 70m people in the UK so obviously statistically muslim women (and jewish women - 100k Jewish , a bit less if we exclude little tirls and much less if we only take the orthodox covering hair and very very few fundamentalist Christian women who cover heads and not many like the Queen in the traditional English headscarf these days to protect their "hair do") so yes it is unusual particularly in some parts of the country but that does not mean anyone should ever stare. Northumberland where I am from originally is 98% white but that does not mean we go around staring at people who aren't.

@Tooshyshyhushhushidoi why care if others look? Your breaking the barrier for others in the future. Someone always has to take the first step. I'd be proud of myself. Who cares what ignorant or non ignorant people think. You don't have to prove anyone right or wrong so long as you're true to yourself.

No I wouldn't stare. Muslim faith is not only for people of non-white backgrounds and there are other faiths and cultures where head covering would be the norm. I can't understand why you would stare. It's rude.

Fellow Muslim of Yorkshire origin. At first when I started to wear Hijab 25+ years ago, I perfectly understand how you are feeling. The best thing I can tell you is to be strong and rise above the “looks”. Ultimately people have a curious nature or are just maleducated. Not all women of European/British origin become Muslims to please their Muslim husband. This is actually not permitted and each person must revert of their own volition. Not all Muslims are brown 🤦🏻‍♀️I wish you well Sister 😊😊
