To go and take next doors wind chimes down?

I hate the noise wind chimes make, and realise that my hate of them is my problem. Our neighbours have some in the trees in their back garden and they drive me mad at times. I haven’t said anything to them as they are doing nothing wrong.

But they have moved out and the house is up for rent and they have left them up, would IBU to go and take them down and leave them laid in their garden so they wouldn’t make a noise but could find them if they come back for them?

Sounds fair enough to me

Hugasauras · 21/05/2023 13:45

Awful things. Do it.

heyitsthistle · 21/05/2023 13:45

I'd do it. I loathe windchimes.

silverspoonsz · 21/05/2023 13:45

😂
Personally I would. You wouldn't technically be doing anything wrong.

PuffinsRocks · 21/05/2023 13:46

I'd just bin them TBH. They're not going to wake up at 2am one day and sit up in bed and declare, "My wind chimes! I left them behind!" then come back for them. Nobody does that.

SophieJo · 21/05/2023 13:46

I’d do it and hide them. They would drive me mad!

PuffinsRocks · 21/05/2023 13:46

(I'm thinking this because if you leave them on the patio or whatever your new neighbours might find them and put them back up).

Careerdilemma · 21/05/2023 13:47

I would definitely do that

Mumdiva99 · 21/05/2023 13:49

Can you come and take my neighbours down please too. I love tinkly chimes but they have the large shell ones which just clunk all day long. I'd do it myself in the dead of night but with ring doorbells I'll probably end up on the 'next door' app.

Somanysocks · 21/05/2023 13:51

Personally I would only put up windchimes if I specifically wanted to annoy my neighbours.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

BeautifulJames · 21/05/2023 13:53

Down with the windchimes! 🤣

JMSA · 21/05/2023 13:54

This is absolutely your chance to get rid, so go for it.

WelshDaffodil · 21/05/2023 13:57

I'm only surprised you haven't taken them down already. Take them down and bin them. This is your big chance! Grin

Justcallmebebes · 21/05/2023 14:04

Am I alone in liking wind chimes? Don't like the clunky bamboo ones so much, but like the tinkly ones

I like them too but wouldn't want them 24/7. I have a real struggle not to buy some of the nicer sounding ones as I know they will be in the bin at the end of the week 😣

Go for it OP. Store them carefully and lovingly in your shed for the first year in case they do remember and want them back. Then burn them.

Cam22 · 21/05/2023 14:14

I love the sound.

LeafyGreenSummer · 21/05/2023 14:17

I love wind chimes (good ones, not tinkly or bamboo ones) but having them in the garden is just anti-social, so I second the suggestion of taking them down and keeping them in your shed for a while, just in case. Then get rid!

krustykittens · 21/05/2023 14:26

Do it. The nation will thank you.

RightOnTheEdge · 21/05/2023 14:28

Do it OP!

SmurfHaribos · 21/05/2023 14:31

I can’t bear wind chimes. The neighbours were inconsiderate to have put them up in the first place. Get them down asap OP.

Toomuchfun · 21/05/2023 14:32

Do it, they are horrific!

HappiDaze · 21/05/2023 14:43

Ask them to take them down they won't mind

boomboom109283 · 21/05/2023 14:46

I did exactly this when my neighbour died and the house went on the market/ was sat empty. Popped through the hedge and took them down. They'd been driving me mad for eight years.

Mariposista · 21/05/2023 14:49

Can't stand them and they used to terrify the poor cat.
