To go and take next doors wind chimes down?

I hate the noise wind chimes make, and realise that my hate of them is my problem. Our neighbours have some in the trees in their back garden and they drive me mad at times. I haven’t said anything to them as they are doing nothing wrong.

But they have moved out and the house is up for rent and they have left them up, would IBU to go and take them down and leave them laid in their garden so they wouldn’t make a noise but could find them if they come back for them?

Get em gone!!

Pure evil 😖

Marmalady75 · 21/05/2023 22:29

Did you do it?

Ooooh.... do you think they'd keep ndn's cat off my patio then? Sorely tempted to go get some windchimes now.

Mine haven't deterred the local kitties and my own cat loves them. He sits on the plinth below them and bats at them to make them sing to him 😸

I adore the sound of wind chimes, instantly relaxes me!

I like them too, but I have to be fair to the haters. All windchimes are not created equal. The tinny, tinkly cheapo ones that most people seem to have can be quite irritating. Especially when they aren't yours and you didn't choose to have to hear them.

LittleBumblebee3 · 21/05/2023 22:37

@Splodgerbodgerbadger if you have a chance to get them down then you go for it 👏🏼🤣 awful things!

When I was younger our next door neighbour lost her son and made a small memorial type garden within her garden which was lovely. Unfortunately she decided to fill the whole thing with wind chimes and due to the layout of the properties it was pretty much right underneath my bedroom window 😬
I could never ask her to move them because I knew what they were for and we had all known and loved her son but OMG the noise was horrific 😬 …and we lived in a nice windy Scottish seaside town 🙉

runninglady55 · 21/05/2023 22:39

Why are you even here op?

You should be over there with clippers and a bin bag .

It's antisocial to force others to listen to unnecessary noise you find pleasant without asking. They'd have been long gone if it were me

Right I’m off round later when it starts getting a bit darker. It’s been windy here today so been sat in the garden listening to the things. Our bedroom is on the garden side of the house so if we have our window open we can hear them.

Assuming you are in UK it is dark now @Splodgerbodgerbadger...

Splodgerbodgerbadger · 21/05/2023 23:20

I did it they are down, I left them in their garden. They may or may not find them.

What if the new occupants put them back up??? Awful things. Id go back and fetch them. Mysteriously disappear them into your dustbin.

Truestorypeeps · 22/05/2023 00:28

That's half a job! You are to dispose of them! I would have taken a hammer to them angrily for all the problems they've caused!

Divorcedalongtime · 22/05/2023 01:04

Hate them. I once had a neighbour who had tbwm too. So glad we moved

MysteryBelle · 22/05/2023 01:27

You were supposed to smash a big rock on top of them ! They’d still be there only under a big rock, smashed.

One night, while they were away, the wind blew harder than usual and now they're gone. Odd, that!

JandalsAlways · 22/05/2023 02:26

They've left so do it. I'd take wind chimes over barking dogs or screaming kids any day!!

pastypirate · 22/05/2023 14:40

Are you my neighbour? Someone down couple doors from me has them and I want to rip them down. I forget until it's windy. Is fecking windy today!!

celticprincess · 22/05/2023 20:28

Definitely go and get them. One of my neighbours has them. Usually only hear them when the wind is bad but OMG they are so annoying. I think they might have taken them down at some point as I haven’t heard them for a while. Or maybe someone else complained!!

talktalk66 · 22/05/2023 20:31

Take them down now you have the chance and donate them to your local nursery or primary school, they will love them!

dudsville · 22/05/2023 20:38

I wonder what the history of wind chimes is, where did these irritants come from? Off to Google.

AffableApple · 22/05/2023 21:30

Anyone who puts wind chimes up is very selfish. Shit in your own ears if you want to, but don't subject other people to the relentless, patternless clanging. (And no, tinkly musical ones are not any better.)

Noodles1234 · 22/05/2023 22:26

I’d do it, they’re annoying after a while.
Our neighbours have built a pub in their garden, the children (in their 20’s), smoke weed and get drunk day and night especially when the sun is out. On reflection I’d rather the wind chimes!
