Elf Bar witchcraft

I've name changed before posting this but have been here a good while.

I am a smoker...a heavy smoker. Over the past year I've been getting crosser and crosser with wasting so much money. I started to see disposable vapes in all the shops and noticed how much cheaper they are.

Over the years I have tried to stop smoking a few times and have tried lots of alternatives including vapes (last time was 5 years ago)

On Saturday I bought an elf bar on a whim, just to see what they were like. For the rest of the day I smoked miles less than I would have normally done

Yesterday, I smoked 10 fags (or there abouts) to my normal 30ish. This is with drink and a smoking DH.

Today I have had 5 and am choosing the elf bar as default.

This is witchcraft isn't it??

I realise there are many potential risks with a vape (the reason I have always said I won't vape) however I'm sick to the back teeth of smoking and everything to do with it...yet I can't stop. This contraption has, so far, had the same effect, completely by accident. I haven't made a decision to quit smoking (if I tell myself I'm not allowed to smoke I will immediately smoke 20 fags as that's how my brain works lol) but I cannot believe how effective these things have been!! I have cigarettes on the side yet I've just gone to the vape instead.

Has anyone else had this? If you have what are your tips and recommendations for flavours to help me swap out the fags for good!

@Arewehumanorarewecupboards how did you get on? (If you bought one then promptly smoked 20 fags then there is totally no judgement here as that's me 😂😂)

I'm liking it so far... I've taken you tip and not got rid of the fags yet, actually bought a pack earlier even though I knew it was arriving so I don't feel like I'm depriving myself! Will see how I go on over the weekend!

I've been vaping for a while and it completely stopped me smoking. I even moved onto nicotine free elf bars for a while but then couldn't get hold of them.

I generally use elf style bars outside the house as they are smaller and quieter, with a refillable device at home.

I'm scared to share this here in case you all rush out to buy them and I can't get any, but a lot of Sainsburys sell elux vapes which may even be better than elfbars, but are so similar it's hard to tell. They are currently on offer for £3.75 each!

I replaced fags with vaping in 2015 and am still merrily vaping away. So much better than smoking. I occasionally wonder if I’ll stop one day but mostly don’t give it a lot of thought. I have a history of addictive behaviours- I smoked pretty enthusiastically for about 20 years (with a couple of breaks while pregnant, bfing etc). I have also had some tricky times with alcohol, other substances as well as food, exercise… You name it, I’ve probably been addicted to it at some point 😂 So absorbing nicotine through a much less harmful route than tobacco seems small fry to me. Along with my beloved caffeine, that’s all I need these days!

I do worry about the environmental impact of the disposable ones though. I’ve always used rechargeable devices. They do wear out/break eventually but you can expect to get a few years out of a decent box mod (which is around £50) and a good tank. I’ve been through a few mods but have had the same tank for years.

Has anyone tried the Elfliq in a nautilus mini?
I've had a read and it says it may wreck the coils but thought it might be worth a try.
I've tried an elf disposable and the flavour was great. I've been vaping for 10years though so I'm used to a rechargeable battery and I like the nautilus.

I stopped nearly 4 months ago now, using the Allen Carr book. Never thought it’d work tbh. Amazed how it did.

@Lillygolightly, we must be of the same vintage- I remember fags being those prices! I sometimes spent my school lunch money on 10 Silk Cut. Some time later I switched straight to B&H (?!). Then did several years on Marlboro Lights and eventually roll ups. Can’t bear to think about how much money I set fire to! 🙄

Go on OP, buy the vaporesso, you know you want to. Alternate it between your elf bars, and then you still haven’t actually quit smoking or your elf bars either

@HumourReplacementTherapy its the nic salts that require a mesh type coil, the nautilus mini has a wire wick coil I believe. You can use nic salt liquids like the elfliq in your nautilus but it is correct that it will ruin your coils much faster.

@waterlego haha yes I started out on silk cut, then moved to malbrorough lights and then discovered menthols and from then on it was either Richmond Superkings or Berkeley Menthols. I believe you can’t buy menthols anymore now, gosh I would have been devastated if I still smoked 🙈

I first tried to quit with the help of E-cigs on my 30th as all the vape shops had started popping up everywhere and so DH thought it would be a good birthday present to get me kitted out. Unfortunately the technology and liquids were not what they are now and I remember the device being pretty awful and spat hot liquid into my mouth which was yuck. I tried again about 3 years later and got an aspire stick vape from a Liberty Flights shop and got on well with it and managed to ditch the fags once and for all. After a few months I went back a bought a proper mod and I’ve been sold ever since.

I will say that if you find flavours that you really like is to make sure you rotate them regularly as you sort of become to accustomed to the flavour, and it’s almost as if you don’t really taste it anymore. I rotate myself through about 5 different flavours and that helps to keep the vape tongue at bay.

Well done to all on the journey of quitting. I quit smoking cold turkey successfully several times and for years at a time, but always found that I eventually ended up back smoking again at some point but with vaping I honestly believe that I will never be a smoker again. It’s fab!

Afternoon fellow elf bar users

I just wanted to add, really, that I bought an Evio box vaper. Takes nic salts so I bought 6mg as that is what I used to use.
Cannot taste it. loll

I will get used to it hopefully but the flavour in the elf bar/elf bar mate 500 is 20mg and I am so used to that now.
I will perservere with my 6mg.

I just got a Caliburn vape as a freebie and actually prefer it to the Elf pods/ disposables. It has a refillable pod which you fill with your chosen juice which lucky for me, I can also get for free!

The vaporesso have different ohms for different pods.

The 0.6ohm is the loosest draw, the 1.2ohm is the tightest. Get what works for you.

I started with 1.2 but I've moved down to 0.6.

Well i brought some elf bars and havent smoked since thursday night! Hopefully will keep it up but hasnt been to bad so far

@Whatsherusername yay!!! Well done 😁 I'm now on day 8 of zero cigarettes. I've decided I prefer SKE crystal & lost Mary to elf as the flavours are different and less sweet.

I replaced cigs with vaping 9 years ago. Not smoked since - started with tobacco flavours and gradually moved to other stuff.

Downside is I’ve never actually managed to stop vaping. Even so, it’s so much cheaper and I’m now hardly ever Ill - seemed to have a constant cold when smoking.

@Whatsherusername have you noticed any changes since you stopped the fags? My sense of smell has come back greatly and my skin is better already!

I think vaping is maybe making me tired. I have so much nonsense going on atm it's hard to tell.

@EmmaEmerald do you think it's because of all the junk in fags? I think (in the back of my head somewhere) they're a stimulant. Maybe it's that

@Zoologydragon I am not coughing as much and i feel better in myself, I'm a little disappointed as my partner isn't as happy as i expected as he is very anti smoking but im doing it for me so heho, food is tasting better too so thats good

@Zoologydragon havent noticed a difference in my skin yet but just back from a holiday in greece and im allergic to sunlight so dealing with a lovely rash atm lol

@Whatsherusername it's so strange isn't it - I hadn't realised that my taste and smell had changed so much. My DP is still smoking and is rather bemused by the whole thing ha.

Is it like little red lumps and small blisters? I get it it's called polymorphic light eruption and the only thing that helped was making sure I only used mineral-based sunscreens and not chemical-based ones. (usually, the baby range or dolphin friendly ones are what you're looking for), the ones that are zinc oxide based, steer clear of the ones with oxybenzone, avobenzone, and octinoxate.

I was only on about 3 - 5 a day so it could be but it seems unlikely?

I often smoke in times of stress and then just stop, not had this problem, before. But life is a bit bonkers - I'm doing paperwork atm which probably sums it up. Finishing up a project tomorrow, hope not to smoke or vape for a while after that.
