Scratches on 2 year olds shoulder and back

Left DP alone with the kids (2 and 6) for an hour. When I came back my toddler had scratch marks on his shoulder and back. Definitely weren't there before and looked fresh. DP said he can't recall any incident where this might have happened. Its not the first time, it also happened a few weeks ago, they were too deep for him to have done himself. AIBU to suspect he's done this? For context he does have anger problems and regularly shouts at the kids.

This is such a weird thread!

So what are you planning to do now?
Did your dp inflict the first lot of scratches or not? Is he abusive? The fact that you think he could hurt the dc whether he did or not, means you need to get him out, this doesn't sound like a healthy relationship at all

I think the scratches are probably self inflicted. My children have both done it to themselves, either in their sleep or in the bath. It's surprising how much damage they do in a short amount of time, and how well they reach their own back.

It seems unlikely that both children would be happy and unable to tell you what happened if something that traumatic happened within a few minutes of you returning home. Similarly if another child scratched yours at nursery (through his clothes?) he'd be crying and nursery workers would have noticed something.

If you're really worried then see a GP asap- they'll be able to say whether the scratches look like they could have ben done by the child to themselves.

Oh I agree, he still needs to go! The thought of him inflicting physical injury was just a whole other level. This thread was started to help me work through whether they could have been self inflicted, which seems increasingly likely.

By fresh I meant done within the last half hour or so.
