You more likely have an intolerance to something....

Ace56 · 26/03/2023 10:03

Are you sure it’s food poisoning or are you just intolerant to one of their ingredients?

WhoStoleMyTiddyOggy · 26/03/2023 10:04

Hmm, I disagree

It sounds like something that doesn’t agree with you. What did you have?

FiveShelties · 26/03/2023 10:04

Mild food poisoning? I have never heard of that and I certainly would not keep returning to the source.

WhoStoleMyTiddyOggy · 26/03/2023 10:04

Not when it happens sometimes and not others

I have never had a problem. Is it a particular baguette, or all baguettes. If all, it may be your local pret has low hygiene standards and needs reporting. If one specific, then think about allergies to the ingredients as a pp said.

ManipulatorPedipulator · 26/03/2023 10:05

Pret is fucking disgusting anyway, and they’re pretty well known for having horrendous food safety. I can’t understand why people go there at all to be honest.

CantFindTheBeat · 26/03/2023 10:05

I have Prets often when I'm in the office. Never had a problem.

MrNook · 26/03/2023 10:05

What baguette did you have each time? I don't imagine it's food poisoning on 4 occasions more likely an intolerance to an ingredient

Oysterbabe · 26/03/2023 10:05

What kind of baguette?

WhoStoleMyTiddyOggy · 26/03/2023 10:05

I choose different bagettes each time but I don't always get bad guts after

Anycolouryoulike · 26/03/2023 10:05

Pret is a rip off. I doubt you keep getting food poisoning though.

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 26/03/2023 10:06

What’s “mild” food poisoning? Is that a thing? I thought it was always pretty bad if you get food poisoning.

Fwiw, we have never had it from Pret over many years of buying baguettes there. Although less likely to eat there nowadays because of the cost.

In that case, it must be low food hygiene standards. You MUST report this. I’d go via head office. You can’t be the only one.

curious79 · 26/03/2023 10:07

Shouldn’t you be dealing with Pret / council trading standards rather than starting this post?
They have very strict food handling processes in place. more likely you have some intolerance than are repeatedly unlucky

bellac11 · 26/03/2023 10:07

My OH is like this, he will claim 'that gave me food poisoning' or upset tummy, when in fact he eats too much, too late, or sometimes people just have a bit of a tummy bug, people are unlikely like that. I have IBS and its a bit unpredictable what sets it off.

FantasticWishesEverywhere · 26/03/2023 10:08

We eat lots of prêt baguettes and this has never happened. It’s getting too expensive though now.

WeAreTheHeroes · 26/03/2023 10:08

OP which of their baguettes have you had which have given you problems?

Popsicle42 · 26/03/2023 10:08

I’ve eaten their baguettes and salads quite often. Have never experienced this.

BadForBusiness · 26/03/2023 10:10

Blimey that sounds unfortunate, I've been eating at Pret for thirty years and never had food poisoning. Is it always the same branch? It's possible that they have a specific issue with their food storage practices or one of their fridges is dodgy or they've got a staff member with persistent poor practices and/or some kind of weird persistent bug.

Or it could be a random intolerance to an ingredient as per pp. Do the baguettes causing the problem have an ingredient in common?

coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 26/03/2023 10:11

What's "mild food poisoning"?

Surely it's more likely that you have IBS or an intolerance - they're not always predictable and it can depend on what else you've eaten that day as to whether they get triggered.

TomatoSandwiches · 26/03/2023 10:13

What symptoms do you get?

Sapphire387 · 26/03/2023 10:14

No, I don't get this and have eaten plenty of Pret baguettes.

Namechange129010 · 26/03/2023 10:15

Is it always the same Pret? I have lunch from Pret (various branches) several times a week and have done for years, never had a problem. Have you ever had a problem with salad, pastry etc or is it just the baguettes?
