To not buy mince in Sainsbury's

1st world problems I know 🤣

But yuck - I wouldn't feed it to a dog.

The new vacuum pac might not affect the taste (I won't be finding out for a long time) but it certainly looks absolutely disgusting.

And it wasn't this colour in store - they were all horrible and brown! 🤢🤮

Bought some yesterday - made bolognese. It was fab. Very low fat. Can’t get excited about the packaging.

Oh mine looks ok actually! Got a 750g pack here to use up and it’s still very fresh looking.

What's the brown colour about?

It's a way to use less plastic packaging.

I'm sure you know what mince looks like.

Complete nonsense to reject it on the appearance of it.

It didn’t exactly look beautiful in the old style packaging. Raw mince just looks grim.

I bought some the other day. Another lady and me were laughing about it in the shop saying how vile it looked.

But it tasted fine and looked the same once I'd cooked it up.

Have to agree though, it looks like dog food in the new packaging 😂

I didn't buy any today as you're right, it all looked a brown colour....is that just because of the new packaging? I though it looked a bit off!

I'm assuming it's something to do with the packaging process - maybe because it sucks all of the air in so tightly?

I don’t buy mince in Sainsbury’s since they have started stocking so much Irish mince instead of British. I just find it so morally wrong not to support our farmers.

I thought it looked off too which is why I didn't buy any.

It wasn't just one though, it was all of them, and when compared to other beef products was a really different colour.

Might taste OK, but mince isn't cheap, so I am not going to buy something that I think may have turned.

It's a PITA using vacuum packed mince as it's hard to break up to get it to cook evenly

When meat goes brown it is oxidised. Not attractive visually, won't cause food poisoning or affect taste.
Some pathogens grow better in oxygen rich environments so it might reduce the shelf life but the seller should have tested the packaging conditions and therefore taken that into account with the date on the packet.

It might not look as appealing but it saves on plastic and it is the same inside so YABU!

It goes brown when it's going off though, so until you open it you won't know which it is.

I don't think £5 odd for mince is particularly cheap.

It would take up less space in the freezer at least

It looks vile. We get meat from our local butchers-it looks & tastes so much better.

We had some this week. It tasted the same. Less packaging and taking up less space in the fridge is only a good thing surely.

YABU to judge a book by it's cover. You haven't even used it. Others say they have snd it's fine

At least you aren't paying for 500g of mince and 1999 grammes-worth of non recyclable plastic to try and convince you you're buying more than you really are.

The sooner they do the same with cuts of meat, the better.

Mince has gone up so much in price, even cheap fatty frozen stuff.

I've bought some. It's fine. The packaging is just smaller.
