1st world problems I know 🤣

But yuck - I wouldn't feed it to a dog.

The new vacuum pac might not affect the taste (I won't be finding out for a long time) but it certainly looks absolutely disgusting.

And it wasn't this colour in store - they were all horrible and brown! 🤢🤮

I've had a home vacuum saver for years ( excellent for saving money and prolonging shelf life!) , there are certain foods that should never be vacuumed packed like this , soft food tops the list because it obviously squeezes it flat and any food the release a gas ( onions!) .
They could have saved a similar amount of plastic by simply not fully vacuuming!
The mince would have kept the usual consistency and we would all applaud their efforts!
Surprised they didn't know this!

Please make my dead animal look tastier 🤣

jeffgoldblum · 06/04/2023 14:03

Yep ! , love a tasty and pretty dead animal! Yummy 😋!

Oh me too! I had some Sainsburys mince a couple of days ago and made a lovely lasagne. But I can’t get worked up about mince looking dead.

Yes, that was literally al they had to do. As it goes, this is now an epic marketing fail, no matter how we might feel ethically.

If you look at the BBC article, you can see how it looks cooked!

I have just bought 4 packs of M and S mince and put them in my freezer.

I was thinking the same, it looks awful, not popular in my local Sainsbury's, they've got shelves stacked full of them, all going brown in colour. Let's hope they change it.

Buy it wherever you want to and if it looks brown I wouldn’t buy it.

I don’t have a problem with the new vacuum packs in terms of taste/cooking. My bolognaise was the same as ever - didn’t find it difficult to get the lumps out.

But I assume this new packaging is more about cost savings than environmental on Sainsbury’s part. It’s convenient to talk about environmental impact (which hopefully is positive as so many people don’t recycle the current packaging anyway). I’d like to know the unit cost of this packaging vs the old packaging. Is anyone on here in the industry? Is this change really about profits?

You sound like a 1st world problem, one who has to have their crusts cut off.
