...to think that the fabric, literally, of society, literally is falling apart, literally?

Further to the outrage I noted last year of PG Tips putting less tea in each bag than they used to - and I think this was established as fact, although the rioting in the streets that I predicted never actually came to pass, which I blame on recent legislation against civil protest, it's bloody Priti Patel we have to thank for that...er..where was I? Oh, yeah, teabags. I've noticed that the manufacturing quality of pyramid teabags has plummetted. About one in four of them break in the mug these days, even just given a little gentle swirl. I mean, it appears that they're making the bags out of some kinda stuff that disintegrates in hot water. That can only be a deliberate attempt to break the spirit of the ordinary person.

I may have to switch to Yorkshire Tea. And I'm from London. Yes! I know! The situation is that dire. It's a sign of the End Times, I'm telling you. Dark forces are at work...

YES. I just ate the last olive.

RoomOfRequirement · 28/02/2023 12:29

YES! YADNBU.

This drives me insane. I thought it was just me! They never used to do this.

Is society literally held together by fabric?

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 28/02/2023 12:31

It's the same with ready meal type packaging the seals don't peel off they all just burst open. DH reckons they are like that to protect the stuff from bursting open in transit rather than end user ease if use.

OutOfThisState · 28/02/2023 12:31

There’s other tea out there other than Yorkshire?

TheSnugglyDuckling · 28/02/2023 12:32

Apparently it’s because they’re using eco friendly seals which are disintegrating in water although I haven’t found it affecting my tea yet. But I’d sooner throw myself in the Thames than give up PG Tips for Yorkshire tea.

Please don't do that, you might hurt yourself bouncing off the surface and have to limp back to the bank

KatnissNeverdone · 28/02/2023 12:36

I don't even think Yorkshire tea is holding it together. I seem to be ripping lots of bags when separating them to put them in cups. It's outrageous!

Surplus2requirements · 28/02/2023 12:37

I haven't been able to find Moroccan style hummus for weeks!

It's hell out there

pointythings · 28/02/2023 12:37

Well, I have all kinds of fabric issues but they are mainly due to cats. So maybe there is a plague of antisocial invisible cats destroying the fabric of society? They are probably green too.

Yorkshire tea is the tea of the gods and I say that as a lancashire lass

Thankyou!! What the hell is going on with this lately?!

BeetleyCarapace · 28/02/2023 12:40

Yorkshire Tea does not mix with London tapwater IME

CountryLifeIsTwigsAndShit · 28/02/2023 12:40

I’ve switched to Yorkshire tea for this very reason! The bags haven’t broken once, and they make a good cup of tea as long as you like your tea strong, which I do.

Yeah, why do they come in pairs? Why not singles? Or threes?

I take it you haven't tried Glengetti??

peanutbuttertoasty · 28/02/2023 12:45

YABU for not drinking yorkshire tea in the first place. PG Tios has always been shit. You reap what you sow!

Lovelent23 · 28/02/2023 12:46

EGGS COME IN 6 OR 12, NOT 5s!! I'M LOOKING AT YOU CREAM EGGS!!

HaveYouSeenNancy · 28/02/2023 12:48

I only drink Yorkshire tea and I'm not even British. My sister in law says literally all the time, did it come from America? E.g. "Oh my God, I couldn't believe what just happened on the way here... It was literally." That's it, the end of the sentence, there might be an exasperated sigh but no more info. And if I ask for more I just get more sentences with literally as the ending "So I was looking at him and he was just literally..." Aaargh, He was literally what? And I'm not even going to go into the annoying 'literally when you mean metaphorically' subject. Shall I pop back over to pedants corner now?

VaguelyFamiliar · 28/02/2023 12:48

YABVU to drink anything other than Yorkshire Tea in the first place.

Do staplers now have wide tolerances allowing for failure or are staples made out of butter?

PuppyMonkey · 28/02/2023 12:49

I would like to meet an Eco Friendly Seal one day.

Pyramid bags have always been meh. Yorkshire all the way.

Agreed.

They make a hard water one though

EatYourVegetables · 28/02/2023 12:55

@HaveYouSeenNancy I literally can’t.

Do I need to admit to the OP that I’ve been seeking into the houses of people who literally misuse the word “literally” and literally tearing their teabags?
