Just got into work and another colleague (another female so not a man trying to come on to me) has left flowers and chocolates on my desk with a card. Aibu to think this is inappropriate? Apparently she’s got them me “for Valentine’s Day”.

My daughter got me a card from the cat, should I have thrown it back in her face or laughed at the verse like I did! My partner jokes that I love the cat more than him, should I throw it out incase he gets upset?

No because that is your daughter and there is a family joke about the cat.

You are not telling me you can’t see any difference between your daughter and a work colleague.

Does the card say "Get your tits out" ?
If not I'm struggling to see the problem

😂😂😂😂

I got my cats a valentines card and my mum bought me one from them, so I can definitely relate 😂

Of course I can tell the difference, but neither would bother me!

Those of you who would think it was OK would you not feel bad about not getting them something?

It's not normal to start buying gifts for someone you work with.

ZiriForEver · 14/02/2023 18:21

Maybe she knows you are single and wanted to make your day nice, like not going without a small gift?

WineCap · 14/02/2023 18:49

I wouldn't do what your colleague did, but I would assume that she was trying to give me a boost on a day that is dedicated to couples and romance in your shoes. Perhaps she found Valentine's Day hard when she was single and wanted to make you feel good.

There was a thread on here yesterday I think, about a woman who was unsure whether or not to get her colleague who’s a woman, some flowers & chocs for Valentine’s Day as her colleague had been through a lot. Are you the colleague who’s had a rough deal of late by any chance?

The OP is a troll. It is interesting how there is a divide about it though.
