That confidence and absolute belief that she’s right and no one is wrong. It’s not a v female thing and I have to a tiny bit admire her for it. She’s and her party are knobs at the mo obviously,

OP posts:

Hahaha! Good thread! A pint of delusion to drink before breakfast!

BloaterW1 · 06/02/2023 07:14

She has a brass neck, she is also a fruit loop. But plays well in the party obviously.

Onnabugeisha · 06/02/2023 07:15

I think perhaps she is skipping medication.

BitOutOfPractice · 06/02/2023 07:16

It’s quite the thing isn’t it?

Shes convinced she’s 100% right and Sunak is 100% wrong. Sunak thinks she’s totally wrong and he’s completely right.

neither of them with one shred of doubt.

of course they’ve forgotten the other option: they’re both wrong.

ohyouknowwhatshername · 06/02/2023 07:23

😅
Yes, I'd love some of her confidence!
I can't believe she's got the nerve to come back into the spotlight again. If it was me I'd have emigrated after last time.

watchfulwishes · 06/02/2023 07:26

I was thinking just this - I beat myself up when I make minor mistakes at work. Yet Truss ignores all advice and tanks the economy and STILL comes out saying she's right.

I often think about her parents, they must be so embarrassed. I would be embarrassed if my kid was that oblivious to reality.

Pumpupthejampumpitup · 06/02/2023 07:27

Liz Truss and Boris just can’t keep themselves to themselves. Their egotism and self belief is staggering.

FannythePinkFlamingo · 06/02/2023 07:28

She has a staggeringly huge ego. I struggle to see how she can look back and think she was right. Oblivious to reality that one.

Believeitornot · 06/02/2023 07:31

I’m astounded at Liz Truss but then I figure - she will have a circle of people around her telling her she’s sensible and knows what she’s talking about.

Politicians are human beings and sometimes have no scale of what running a country actually means and we get cock ups like this.

Yes! They could both be wrong.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 06/02/2023 07:33

Well, I don't know really. I am plagued by self doubt and I'd love to get rid of it, but I'm not sure that self confidence in the face of all evidence to the contrary is the solution that any of us should be aiming for. I'm cringing for her tbh.

knittingaddict · 06/02/2023 07:36

I love confidence and self belief but confidence based on fantasy just looks like narcissism to me.

dottiedodah · 06/02/2023 07:44

Self belief is one thing.being in a state of denial is quite another. She seems totally deluded.tbh I'm surprised she hasn't been kicked out or gone to USA

TheVanguardSix · 06/02/2023 07:45

She is a modern day Narcissus, admiring her own reflection in her septic pond of Kool Aid, the very pool she wants to drown us in.

ImAvingOops · 06/02/2023 07:45

I don't know - it's not a good thing to have absolutely no self doubt. And it seems to be a trait amongst the worst of the world's leaders!

Lostinthecoop · 06/02/2023 07:48

Dunning Kruger effect

and narcissism

but she’s also thick

Mrstwiddle · 06/02/2023 07:48

I'm a Conservative voter but Liz Truss is just dreadful, I don't think she ever turned down the automatic Prime Minister pension did she? Honestly, she just has no shame at all.

brujarosada · 06/02/2023 07:52

Interestingly, she was interviewed for The Authority Gap (decent book). She talks a lot in that book about how she is unfairly done down and disrespected.

While I think that her perceptions as set out in the book are probably at least partially true, intervening events mean that these parts of the book haven't aged well.

Nimbostratus100 · 06/02/2023 07:54

smack yourself in the head until you've got concussion and amnesia????

That might do the trick

IJustHadToLookHavingReadTheBook · 06/02/2023 07:55

She's thick as mince. And has no shame at all, at least give it six months after you tanked the economy, woman!

Noicant · 06/02/2023 07:56

I don’t know the IMF said one of the reasons it downgraded the uk’s forecast was because of the higher tax burden. Last year (few months really) it was shouting that the uk shouldn’t be cutting taxes and that Truss was making a mistake 🤷🏽‍♀️. Probably why she’s popped up again.

HeadNorth · 06/02/2023 07:59

I think it worrying demonsrates what a bubble most politicians are in, entirely detached from reality. She must be surrounded by admiring 'yes men' and never have to interact with ordinary working people on average wages.

BadHabitsGoodFun · 06/02/2023 08:00

@Noicant the tax thing must be far more nuanced than that as we’re one of the lowest tax economies in Europe. 🤷‍♀️

I don’t think she is thick - become PM and even with good backers that take’s doing. She is delusional about this but she knows how to appeal to a certain audience.

Stellaris22 · 06/02/2023 08:07

I couldn't take her seriously since reading about her potential BDSM day collar she wears all the time. Would explain the constant humiliation!
