To want some of whatever Lizz Truss is on?

That confidence and absolute belief that she’s right and no one is wrong. It’s not a v female thing and I have to a tiny bit admire her for it. She’s and her party are knobs at the mo obviously,

OP posts:
Wibblewibble1 · 06/02/2023 08:10

She had a pint of narcissism with a side shot of delusion…it works, my ex used to drink it all the time!

LibrariansGiveUsPower · 06/02/2023 08:13

BitOutOfPractice · 06/02/2023 07:16

It’s quite the thing isn’t it?

Shes convinced she’s 100% right and Sunak is 100% wrong. Sunak thinks she’s totally wrong and he’s completely right.

neither of them with one shred of doubt.

of course they’ve forgotten the other option: they’re both wrong.

Rishi isn’t as delusional. He hasn’t tanked the pound and the recession is looking to be less harsh than originally projected. Liz is on another planet and is frankly dangerous.

Not sure how Rishi can say conservatives are caring party with a straight face mind.

"I don’t think she is thick"

She is a bit thick though - when she was Foreign Secretary, didn't she get the Baltic and Black seas mixed up and didn't know what regions were actually in Russia?
Geography's not my strong point but if I was Foreign Secretary I think I'd be inclined to learn. She is that unfortunate combination that we seem to get in this country of outstandingly arrogant and not too bright!

Lostinthecoop · 06/02/2023 07:48

Dunning Kruger effect

and narcissism

but she’s also thick

Absolutely this...

PrinnyPree · 06/02/2023 08:21

"To want some of whatever Lizz Truss is on?"

To be left in an unventilated room with lead paint?

I did have a 😆 at "left wing" and "economic establishment" being in the same sentence... She really must be surrounded by an echo-chamber of nutters to spout that sort of conspiratorial Trumpesque bullshit.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 06/02/2023 08:24

Perhaps Donald Trump sent her some of his tablets?

TheActualDuck · 06/02/2023 08:25

She's certainly not someone who's troubled by self-doubt.

Neededanewuserhandle · 06/02/2023 08:27

I bought the paper yesterday so I can read what she has written when I get a minute. I think it's important to read stuff written by people with whom you profoundly disagree.
As things stand I cannot fathom how she was ever given such important roles (even before politics) and I want to try to figure that out.

Lemonyfuckit · 06/02/2023 08:29

watchfulwishes · 06/02/2023 07:26

I was thinking just this - I beat myself up when I make minor mistakes at work. Yet Truss ignores all advice and tanks the economy and STILL comes out saying she's right.

I often think about her parents, they must be so embarrassed. I would be embarrassed if my kid was that oblivious to reality.

Yes I was thinking the same! I don't want to be so confident I'm just plain deluded but it would be nice to have a bit more confidence!

Danikm151 · 06/02/2023 08:30

She is fully deluded 😂

Weightlossanne · 06/02/2023 08:39

It’s her belief she’s right and everyone else is wrong and left wing to boot.

PortiasBiscuit · 06/02/2023 08:46

Liz Truss was never actually proven wrong though was she? So in her mind she is still right.
I think this whole thread is a bit sexist, we don’t remark on the confidence of male politicians this way. You don’t get to be PM, not even for only 48 days, if you are any form of shrinking violet.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 06/02/2023 08:48

I said that yesterday. She’s the mediocre woman who has the confidence of a mediocre man. There had to be some.

Also read the BDSM thing.

Eleganz · 06/02/2023 08:54

Campaign for the Tory leadership in opposition is underway. Liz isn't speaking to the public, she is speaking to the Tory faithful. There is a huge split in the Tory party and voters about economic policy. Those Tory members want their tax cuts and they are disappointed that Sunak isn't making the poor pay for them.

I'm surprised this has happened so quickly after she left office, but this seems to suggest that faith in Sunak's ability to last the course is at a low ebb.

I think it is excellent and Truss should be encourage as should Johnson in being highly public. This will ensure they stay out of office for as long as possible after the next election.

ImAvingOops · 06/02/2023 08:55

It's not the confidence which is the problem though - it's the confidence in the face of such monumental fuck ups.

How is it sexist? Boris and trump were similarly deluded.

Without getting into detailed politics, Thatcher and May were not deluded.

Have you not read any of the criticism of Boris Johnson?

She was proven wrong, there are tens of billions of reasons that support her being wrong. At a time of economic crisis she poured petrol on the fire, pinned the blame on a black man and is now back to tell us 'her truth'.

Dymaxion · 06/02/2023 08:59

Liz Truss was never actually proven wrong though was she?

What more proof do you think she needs ? She orchestrated a financial strategy, which she mentioned repeatedly when she was campaigning, she got Kwarteng to set out all her plans in Parliament and then bad stuff happened because apparently all those working in the financial markets are a bunch of lefties !

Or maybe they aren't lefties and her financial nous just isn't as good as she seems to believe ?

picklemewalnuts · 06/02/2023 09:04

Yeah, I'm not convinced there was no merit to the underlying strategy.
If there was merit, they clearly totally ballsed it up with bad communication.

So she should be hanging her head in shame at what she and her cronies cost the country.

I imagine she things the people who cost the country are the ones who didn't stick with the vision.

They've all cost us billions.

Buggers.

007DoubleOSeven · 06/02/2023 09:11

It's a common side effect of being PM (however briefly/legitimately). They're all the same. Look at Blair!

Willyoujustbequiet · 06/02/2023 09:18

She clearly has a mental illness.

Utterly delusional.

Wasn't proven wrong? 😂

Did you sleep through the few days she pretty much brought down the country?

mogsrus · 06/02/2023 09:23

Definitely been on the catnip. Well, it makes my cats loopy too

HawaiiWake · 06/02/2023 09:31

Delusional who paints a pretty picture and fit herself into it…regards
less of truth or facts. The tale of her State education….when it was later shown to be a selective grammar school..wonder if her university lecturers parents tutor or gave a huge amount of home help to get her into Oxford. Never seen her give thanks to the school or parents support to get her on the right trajectory for her political career. Narcissistic tendencies seems rather strong.

CPL593H · 06/02/2023 09:39

On the original Spitting Image, Thatcher's puppet was depicted as a wild eyed Nero (complete with toga and lyre) as she approached the end of her premiership. God alone knows how they would show Truss, it is beyond satire or parody.
