Husband labelling HIS OWN FOOD

MrsWestox · 28/01/2023 18:37

Hi all
Now, am I being old fashioned here? Husband since 2014 has taken to labelling ALL the food he buys with a sharpie pen..which ironically I bought.. expecting no one to touch it. But when it comes to the food I buy..plus literally everything else from loo roll to bin bags to washing powder that I buy..is fair game for him to use or eat as he sees fit. So much for a shared household eh? Sharing is caring..( lol)! Has anyone else experienced this..? Am I being unreasonable to be totally razzed off by this?

Label the Sharpie. <meta>

Beat me to it Mrs P.

Very Discworldian logic & consequences 😁

AutisticLegoLover · 28/01/2023 19:14

Why are you with him?

jputthekettleon · 28/01/2023 19:15

What’s his reasoning when it’s been discussed ?

MrsWestox · 28/01/2023 19:15

Hmmmm this is kind of it as my 2 kids are in their 20's and still at home. But..and this is a big one, he is quite happy to hoover up stuff which isnt his " property" and he has not contributed to.. which does PROPERLY razz me off in the extreme. He does this quite blatantly. So what's mine is everyone's..but what's his is HIS with a red sharpie saying so..😔

i'd be using the pen to write " get lost and find somewhere else to live ", on all his foods!

soboredtonight · 28/01/2023 19:15

I'd lick every single thing he labelled.

KettrickenSmiled · 28/01/2023 19:16

Husband since 2014

Although I get the 😡& 🙄- can't help but admire the accuracy of your recall.

Is there a special anniversary every year, when you allow yourself to break the tippex out for some passive-aggressive entertainment?

KettrickenSmiled · 28/01/2023 19:17

sorry bold fail etc - Husband since 2014 has taken to labelling

Marigoldandivy · 28/01/2023 19:19

Did he have a fall, hit his head, and wake up believing he is living in student accommodation with a shared fridge?

MrsWestox · 28/01/2023 19:19

Eureka!! This explains EVERYTHING!!

OP posts:
PennyRa · 28/01/2023 19:19

Did he grow up with food insecurity or trauma?

jtaeapa · 28/01/2023 19:20

What the fuck? How can you be married to this cunt?

JinglingSpringbells · 28/01/2023 19:20

You are mad to stay in this 'marriage'.

Where is your self worth?

Nothing else to add.

pointythings · 28/01/2023 19:20

I'd take a bite out of literally everything of his. Every last thing. Toothmarks in the butter and all.

dzdzdxdz · 28/01/2023 19:20

Unwind a loo roll a few turns and then write in big letters on one sheet 'THIS SHEET BELONGS TO MrsWestox'. Then roll up the loo roll again for him to find the sheet Grin

pointythings · 28/01/2023 19:20

Add a post-it note 'licked by MrsWestox' Grin

Reugny · 28/01/2023 19:21

soboredtonight · 28/01/2023 19:15

I'd lick every single thing he labelled.

😂😂

I had housemates as a student who said they would take to tactics like that if we started stealing food.

Bollindger · 28/01/2023 19:22

Print some not for dad labels, and stick them everywhere.

HowDoYouOwnDisorder · 28/01/2023 19:22

Why live with him?

why why WHYYYYY do women put up with idiotic behaviour like this?

where is your self respect?

WednesdaysNameIsFullOfWoe · 28/01/2023 19:22

It’s really bizarre. I know you have to be careful with suggestions like this, but it’s bizarre enough that is it possible he’s actually unwell and should speak to his GP?

Have you asked him why he’s doing it?

If not, then you’re both a little odd.

KettrickenSmiled · 28/01/2023 19:23

Greensleeves · 28/01/2023 18:46

Eh? How the fuck does that work?! Do you have separate finances? Do you not eat together or share treats? So many questions, sorry OP 😂

I would tell him either a) he takes over responsibility for buying - and labelling - everything he uses down to each individual shit ticket, never to touch anything he hasn’t personally purchased, or b) he stops behaving like a maladjusted fucking child and accepts that sharing living space means sharing amenities. He’s a man, not a dog. Resource guarding is deeply unattractive.

How have I been on this planet for 7 decades & never heard the golden phrase shit ticket before? Thank you Greensleeves 😂😂😂

Also, your stonking rant deserves👏👏👏& a weekly column in a national newspaper for its author.

changeling2022 · 28/01/2023 19:23

@savoycabbage excellent reference there

MrsWestox · 28/01/2023 19:23

Beats me..

OP posts:
Reigateforever · 28/01/2023 19:24

As you buy food/ household goods, sharpie it all with your and children’s names and maybe add his at the bottom to show you can share with everybody in the family, as a normal person.

Itisbetter · 28/01/2023 19:24

I had a friend who’s husband did this. We were both baffled. If it was me I’d just eat whatever I liked and ignore the sharpie till it goes away……or label everything
