Husband labelling HIS OWN FOOD

MrsWestox · 28/01/2023 18:37

Hi all
Now, am I being old fashioned here? Husband since 2014 has taken to labelling ALL the food he buys with a sharpie pen..which ironically I bought.. expecting no one to touch it. But when it comes to the food I buy..plus literally everything else from loo roll to bin bags to washing powder that I buy..is fair game for him to use or eat as he sees fit. So much for a shared household eh? Sharing is caring..( lol)! Has anyone else experienced this..? Am I being unreasonable to be totally razzed off by this?

This is called a 'Cage of Safety' for fridge food. I'm surprised he hasn't got one yet!

Husband labelling HIS OWN FOOD

Is he labelling “treat” food?

or chicken, frozen chips etc?

if it’s treat food as per pp who hide theirs in the spinach drawer, it’s fucking annoying when you buy a 12 pack of crisps because you want 4 packets for your work lunches, but the whole lot gets eaten before you get any. Or you sit down with a cup of tea to find someone’s eaten the half pack of biscuits that were there last night

if he’s labelling his own general food, cooking his own meals like a flatshare then yes, that is wierd.

did he grow up in poverty? That can lead to some odd food attitudes.

My first thought was why this has been happening for so long? Weird af.

Jo586 · 28/01/2023 19:01

Depends, if you have kids, then he doesn't want things he buys for himself, being scoffed, dont blame him.

AdventFridgeOfShame · 28/01/2023 19:02

What sort of food is he labelling?

Chocolate that you and the kids would just eat or red cabbage?

PinkiOcelot · 28/01/2023 19:02

Is it just me that would just eat it regardless of his name on it?

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 28/01/2023 19:02

This makes no sense at all! Have you asked him what he thinks he’s doing?

Are your finances completely separate?

Something for his birthday then.

I’d lock the sharpie in there.

LastOfTheChristmasWine · 28/01/2023 19:04

Christ, I have an actual lodger and even they aren't writing in Sharpie across their food.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 28/01/2023 19:04

There is a place for labelling a few extras or establishing a system whereby everyone gets a share of “treat” foods/ snacks, but this labelling everything he buys seems weird

rwalker · 28/01/2023 19:05

Write your name on your fanny with sharpie

Bertha21 · 28/01/2023 19:06

Why? Does he feel like a lodger? Asd perhaps? This would drive me crazy. I’m interested to know if you eat it anyway? This sounds quite controlling….

Justalittlebitduckling · 28/01/2023 19:07

What a man child.

Llovecookies · 28/01/2023 19:07

sharpie "mine" all over your private parts. And get rid of the tosser.

Atethehalloweenchocs · 28/01/2023 19:07

Fuck labelling - get lockable boxes which only you have the key to. When he wants to wipe his arse - too bad.

This needs more info. Is it treat food? If so completely reasonable, honestly I buy myself treat foods and the kids and husband just scoff them all so when I fancy something it’s not there, I hide in the veg drawer now 😂

if it’s just normal bog standard food shop then yes that’s weird 😂

GoodChat · 28/01/2023 19:10

Who's name is the log book registered in, for entertainment purposes? If it's yours please label the car.

ArmchairAnarchist2 · 28/01/2023 19:12

I'd write fuck you on every item and never shop for him again. DH does all the shopping and I add anything I think we need so it'll never be a problem.

IncompleteSenten · 28/01/2023 19:12

Label your own just to see what he does.
