@Ukrainebaby23 was it 2 separate contracts? I don’t see why not.

Always have a red flannel handy for kids injuries that may involve blood and lots of it, like curs to lips and heads as then they can’t see how much blood there is and panic!

Bogeyes · 21/01/2023 18:05

Glue carpet tiles to the soles of your shoes. This will save buying a carpet.

And more on temperatures.....

If doesn't matter if you prefer Celsius or Fahrenheit it's very easy to convert from one to the other.

Take the temperature in C, double it and add 30 and you have the F temp. So 10 C = 50F. Other way around if you have the F temp, subtract 30 and halve to get the C temp. Not 100% accurate but close enough to tell whether you need a parka or a bikini.

Meanwhile watch for the numbers that match their inverse.....
16C = 61F
28C = 82F
and when it's cold if the thermometer says -40 it doesn't matter what scale is being used as it's the same for C or F.

A handy mnemonic

If you want to change from Centigrade
(As well indeed you might)
9 fifths of C plus 32
Will give you Fahrenheit.

(And of course, you can works it backwards, to to get Dentigrade for Farenheit.)

And while we're on 😄

A litre of water's
A pint and three-quarters.

meatyryvita · 21/01/2023 18:07

Percentages are the same forwards as backwards. 8% of 25 is the same as 25% of 8 but one will always be a bit easier to do in your head.

What should you do if you come across a brown bear and a black bear at the same time?🙁

CakeRattleandRoll · 21/01/2023 18:13

The fuel gauge on the dashboard should have a little arrow next to it. This indicates which side of the car the tank is on. Handy to know if you are driving an unfamiliar car and need to stop for fuel.

I like this one. My mum, a nurse, also advised not waving sharp, shiny, pointy things like scissors or tweezers in front of small children when you are about to extract a splinter or even just cut some bandage or a strip of plaster. Approach from the side and keep them low profile. Works with wussy husbands adults too.

Fabric conditioner sheets on you like your pocket or a shoe, keep mosquitos at bay.

You can set up an account for yourself on WhatsApp so that you can send reminders and links.

I also have a spare payg smart phone and WhatsApp very important messages which I want to keep (such as which antibiotics my husband is allergic to) and which I don't want cluttered up with daily reminders/links that I send to the WhatsApp account I have set up for myself.

Hi, not the bit above your nose, the centre of one eyebrow above the middle of your eye. Pinch above and below the eyebrow. We use this in the army, it’s a pretty tried and tested technique!

I don't feel pain when I pinch in the centre of either eyebrow. I have even tried pinching harder, and harder. No pain, just know my finger and thumb are there.

I am off to do this right now!!

Vinegar in hot water also does this, and you can also add some washing up liquid, but please be aware that washing powder can harm creatures if ingested whereas the vinegar mix will dry and be less toxic.

If your cat didn't like the butter and wandered off anyway, hang your use, unwashed, bedding on the line on a windy day and cay can pick up scent to return home safely.

My friend was given a very young kitten which didn't even know how to wash itself.

She was advised to cover the cat with butter, and it would lick off the greasy deliciousness and teach itself that way.

So she did. And went to work, leaving puss in the living room with food, water and a litter tray.

When she came back the little cat had been up the chimney and the entire room was covered in sooty, buttery footprints . . .

. . . and the kitten was a claggy blob of sooty, buttery fur . . .

Bio or non bio washing powder for driveways?

Vinegar, hot water and washing up liquid is less poisonous. Spread it with a broom.

It's not just you @QuietlyWonderful I'm feeling sorry for the bears too!

Percentages are reversible - sometimes makes calculations quicker:

eg 40% of 60 = 60% of 40

15% of 80 = 80% of 15

That’s amazing. I had no idea.

😱Gravy from a cat food pouch is the best thing to put on a cat if you want it to lick itself.

Another cat tip - if your cat is poorly and not drinking, brush a little water around its mouth with your finger tip; the cat will lick it off as a reflex action. Keep doing this at intervals to keep your cat hydrated (needless to say, also seek vet advice ASAP).

Photograph your child when you go out/on a trip, much easier than giving a description if you get separated. Obvs preferably don't lose child, but it can happen.

I "lost" my DS once , my mind went completely blank with panic and I couldn't even remember his name let alone his clothes .

He was nearby , blithe and unconcerned .
I was a nervous wreck !

Use denture tablets to get rid of stubborn stains in teapots, mugs etc. Leaves them sparkling!

Then soak them in bleach to get rid of the minty smell and taste. Or just bleach them in the first place because it never worked for me.
