There are social tariffs for broadband and water if your on some benefits.
If you have Plantar Facilitis a Cortisone injection can be given free at the doctors and helps relieve the pain.
Tell us something we might not know that can help us?

Sharks will only attack you if you're wet. So if you're on a boat and see a shark, stay on the boat 😊

I'll remember that one!

That and the ones about Bears.

This thread is just a massive public service announcement.

My worry now is: I’m looking at the inside of a bear, I’m hungry but enjoying the warmth. Which red squishy bit the liver. If I lie the bear out like a person will it be the same place as a humans? Where is that?

The liver is a brownish squishy bit.

It has tubes in it.

Trust me - it will be the last bit you are tempted to eat - the gall bladder will look more appetising . . .

never ever trust the brexiteer tories ever ever again.

Never vote for anti-Semitic lefties: learn from history where that ends.

If you are being chased by a crocodile or alligator DO NOT run in a zig zag. It's not true that crocs can't run in a zig zag- they can. Just run in a straight line as fast as you can. If one grabs you poke it in the eyes hard. When it lets go, grab its snout and wrap your arm around it holding it tightly shut- you should be able to hold it shut.

If you encounter a crocodile or an alligator, or a bear or a tiger or lion, you only have to run faster than the person you are with.

Psychonabike · 20/01/2023 20:09

Just to add to the DLA one...

It's correct that you don't need a diagnosis. Those assessing Child DLA/ Child Disability Payments have been made aware of the 3-4 years for diagnosis in many areas and have been instructed to make assessment on basis of needs.

My tip is to apply as early as possible even if you feel you are waiting for information, letters etc. The application might be turned down, but you can appeal/ re-apply when you get the additional information and the first payment will be backdated to when you first applied. So waiting to make the perfect application is a false economy.

Totally unrelated:
If you like boiled eggs in sandwiches etc but don't like shelling them -try boiling them as usual then putting them in a small glass (nutella are ideal), add cold water to about half way up the egg, then shake it with your hand over the top. Shake hard enough to see the shell crack. Take it out and the shell will just come away. This emulates shelling machines which agitate boiled eggs in cold water for mass production and really works.

Maybe totally obvious to everyone else but....
To save space when you buy a new bag of dishwasher tablets/washing machine powder etc for something that is running out, remember there is almost always enough wasted space in the new product to tip the old one in, rather than having to make space for 2 for a while.

Again, totally obvious to everyone else maybe but...
If you have more than one child use "Family SURNAME" or even your own name on name labels and stickers for school etc rather than the individual DC. Saves relabelling for hand me down clothes, lunch boxes, bottles, gloves etc, or even the huge amount of tupperware that seems to get lost when sending in baking for events.

Panty liners have other uses, I put them on the armpit of my T-shirt,so that sweat gets absorbed, preventing the wet feeling. You can but sweat pads but they are expensive. Also I can wear the t shirt for a few days, reducing the amount of washes.

Comeonbarbiebrianharvey · 20/01/2023 20:10

Nail varnish remover before washing removes felt tip from clothes. A cold rinse first helps remove mud and poo, even better with fairy liquid on the stain, cold rinse key. The sun is amazing at bleaching clothes, leave whites in the sun as long as possible. Usually in the summer though.

This is good except sometimes the brown ones are more or less black and the black ones can be brown. Damn sneaky are bears!

I will make sure I don't go near bear territory without a Pantone chart... 😁

Take a copy or photograph your case and passports in case they go missing on holiday.

I often email a photograph of it to myself, never gets 'lost' so long as you have a WiFi.connection.

If you find you can’t put your wine glasses on the top shelf of the dishwasher easily …. there are two blue buttons on the side of the top shelf which drop it down a bit ….

How have i used a dishwasher for over 40 years and not known this !!! and bloody handwashed all my wine glasses all this time

If your husband is a twat you can get something called a divorce which means you don’t have to live with him anymore

Top tip from my DH
If you put dirty plates, cups etc on the worktop above the dishwasher they magically end up inside the appliance cleaned.

If you're stranded in the Arctic and have to kill a polar bear for food, DON'T eat it's liver - at times it can contain so much Vitamin A that it could kill you.

This is the kind of info i need!!

TheGander · 20/01/2023 20:23

If you have any Hedrin lice lotion lying around, it is pretty much pure silicone and brilliant at stopping curtain rings from snagging on the curtain pole when you draw the curtains. Smear a little along the length of the pole for a nice swishy action every time.

Also if you sign up for anything then put the company name as your middle name, e.g., Jane Amazon Smith or Susan Tesco Brown. Then if you start getting marketing calls or junk mail you will know exactly which company sold your info.

Genius!

My OH always did this, amazing how far his names went.

Rather than apply the panty liner to you T-shirt, stick it directly to your armpit.

Then when you change into an outfit for the evening at the Captain's Table (assuming you are on a cruise) it's still there soaking up the sweat and unless you're wearing a strapless dress nobody will probably notice..

They will last for days, providing you don't have a shower or use the pool.

Alternatively throw that spare polar bear liver into its ravening jaws, and watch smugly while it dies writhing in agony from Vitamin A poisoning.

(Apologies if this appears twice - I posted it but it disappeared, however the nature of technology is that it will do anything and everything it can to embarrass you)

RosesAndHellebores · 20/01/2023 20:34

Big mega value packs may be cheaper but they encourage you to use more than is necessary and there begins the diseconomy.

Decant big packs into little containers. You will then eke out the contents.

Tamarindtree · 20/01/2023 20:37

If you have carpets and move furniture and there are indentations where the furniture was, place ice cubes on the indents over night and the next morning the carpet pile will have bounced back.
