To think the family in the On The Beach advert

Are ill-mannered Oafs? The woman carelessly flinging her flip flop so it hits a stranger, the boy child showing obvious pleasure at the girl's ice cream misfortune?
All it says to me is try to avoid anywhere frequented by people who have booked via this outfit as they will be obnoxious.

And that pool is completely in the shade, looks small too. Horrid family 😂

evtheria · 16/01/2023 22:29

I'll have to read this thread to DS8 (clean version, lol) as he ABSOLUTELY HATES the ad and goes into a rant every time The Masked Singer goes on a break. I'm scarily good at just zoning out during commercials but will pay attention to it next time to see if I agree with these complaints Grin

watchfulwishes · 16/01/2023 22:31

Ha yes I have wondered about the family too - however the one thing about that advert is that I have definitely remembered it!

ParanoidJo · 16/01/2023 22:34

Bloody awful and has put me in a rage.

beachybed · 16/01/2023 22:35

I honestly couldn't understand what it was for the first few times I saw it.
I honestly thought the message was about avoiding unruly brits abroad.

DC1214 · 16/01/2023 22:36

I presume it’s to give the sense that it’s an affordable rather than aspirational site? I’m sure that’s probably a smart strategy in the current market.

BudgetBeatrice · 16/01/2023 22:36

Agree! Some twat probably got paid well for making that as well which is just so depressing

ParanoidJo · 16/01/2023 22:37

“Let’s appeal to the poor bastards with no manners, they’ll be right at home here.” Terrible.

Pipsquiggle · 16/01/2023 22:38

It's a poor, lazy advert. Completely uninspiring

jackstini · 16/01/2023 22:40

Hate it. The boy with the ice cream
Is the worst

And they are promoting free lounge access - I will be bloody annoyed if I've paid for the peace and quiet of a lounge and people behaving like that are in there!

MarshaBradyo · 16/01/2023 22:43

dropthevipers · 06/01/2023 00:34

Quite. If I were the girl I would shove the ice cream in his smug ugly face.

He deserves an ice team in the face

ParanoidJo · 16/01/2023 22:44

They should do a sequel where the girl gets her comeuppance.

Lilyhatesjaz · 16/01/2023 22:48

I hate the ad too but some people are saying things about the boy that are nasty and unkind he is a child.

ParanoidJo · 16/01/2023 22:50

The boy is playing a part that has been written and edited to cast a story.

I wouldn’t have okayed this though either, if I was his parent.

Buzzer3555 · 16/01/2023 22:56

It makes me not want to book with them

FrangipaniBlue · 16/01/2023 23:00

The advert is there to remind me why I will never go on a package holiday.

girlfriend44 · 16/01/2023 23:08

You never get time to go.in the lounge anyway.

The idea of an advert is to get people to remember it andits worked because its on mn.
Any publicity is good.

Thereisnolight · 16/01/2023 23:12

I like it.

Another type of Brits Abroad that you often see is Smug, Humourless and Judgmental…perhaps they might make that ad next time for the people on this thread.

ParanoidJo · 16/01/2023 23:18

What would be really great is instead of interpreting most of these posts as Smug and Humourless, maybe see them through the lens of defending the people we think the advertiser is trying to target? Eg me, normal person, with manners, not rich, actually can’t afford a holiday… What’s the brand called again?!

Lilyhatesjaz · 16/01/2023 22:48

He's a morbidly obese child.... It's his fucking parents that are nasty and unkind. No kid should have rolls of fat like that. It's a fucking disgraceful.

charabang · 16/01/2023 23:35

If it were the same advert with an attractive, slim, sunkissed family would it be perceived in the same way?

goingback · 16/01/2023 23:35

JenniferBooth · 16/01/2023 22:24

I HATE the fact they have hijacked a Christmas song.

Has anyone noticed in the We Buy Any Car ads the bloke gets out of the car and does that silly dance on his own But in the WBAC ad with the woman getting out of the car and dancing the kids are dancing with her. Still promoting the message that childcare is womens work.

what a strange take on the advert

Gagaandgag · 17/01/2023 00:10

Oh it’s awful

RobertaFirmino · 17/01/2023 00:30

charabang · 16/01/2023 23:35

If they still had the same bad manners then yes, absolutely.

Helpwhatwouldyoudonext · 17/01/2023 00:40

No, it's the girl that gets pushed out of the way, loses her ice cream etc.
I can't stand the ad for it's misogyny, so glad it not just me!
I too hope the next ad is her, aged 17, holidaying alone and the brother at home.
Terrible advert, would not book with them now!
