To have been entitled over Xmas sleeping arrangements

Staying with PIL over Christmas. 3 bedrooms and 7 adults.

Obviously PIL stay in their own bedroom which leaves a spare room with a double bed, spare with a single bed and sofa bed in living room (which is horrendously uncomfortable).

I have pushed for us to have the double spare bed and:

BIL 1 have single spare bedroom which to me makes sense because there’s one of him and it seems madness that it was a possibility he’d get a double while a couple share a single.

BIL 2 and SIL get awful sofa bed. I feel guilty about this because if I don’t want to sleep there, why should they?

Normally I go with the flow and usually get a raw deal but I’m 7 months pregnant and can barely sleep as it is and the thought of that uneven, springy bed for 4 nights makes me not want to go.

This is exactly why God created the Premier Inn.

Thought that was Lenny Henry

Notyetacatlady · 23/12/2022 12:56

Why are 7 adults staying in a 3 bed semi. What’s the need. Book a hotel if you must travel but I have to say I’d just stay at home and meet up through the day near to Xmas if I didn’t live close.

Wakk · 23/12/2022 12:57

Sounds really uncomfortable, way too overcrowded.

EntitledIthink · 23/12/2022 12:57

@Notyetacatlady its not a semi and it’s not in the UK. Hotels are hundreds of pounds per night - I have suggested it before but DH thinks his parents would be deeply offended.

How’s it the last year everyone is child free? For this to be the case your sil must also be pregnant?

DucklingDaisy · 23/12/2022 12:58

You're 7 months pregnant, totally reasonable. And ignore anyone saying you shouldn't ask and should just hope everyone else thinks to be considerate.

EntitledIthink · 23/12/2022 12:59

@Thefriendlyone i’m due in 2 months so next year we will have a baby, therefore everyone won’t be child free

Surely your in-laws will be? Only you will have a child

Willowswood · 23/12/2022 13:00

Because you're pregnant, you 100% get the double bed.

If you weren't pregnant, I would have offered to toss a coin to see who gets the sofa bed x

5128gap · 23/12/2022 13:00

If you're 7m pregnant and SiL isn't, seems perfectly fair to me. When neither of you are pregnant and no one is in especial need of the best spot, toss a coin.

Notyetacatlady · 23/12/2022 13:00

Fair enough it’s not a semi but it’s a 3 bed home that is not big enough for 7 adults. I’m with you op I get it’s expensive but the overcrowding I feel reading this gives me anxiety. It’s your holiday too you don’t have to spend it cramped in. Doesn’t sound like a relaxing Xmas to me.

I'm going to my parents, it's a semi but 5 large bedrooms. No one is sleeping on a shitty sofa bed or the kitchen! 😆

chary · 23/12/2022 13:03

you don't need to do this to yourself!

Talapia · 23/12/2022 13:05

I would let you have it. I'm sure at some point you can repay the favour. If you feel bad, get them a box of chocolates and thank them for their understanding.

Good for you.

stopthebarking · 23/12/2022 13:07

Maybe I'm missing something, but what will having a child by next year change? The sleeping options will still be the same. Unless you mean that you won't be staying there overnight after you have a child, for some reason that you couldn't already use as an excuse?

chary · 23/12/2022 13:07

yes it's great, I love it!

I think you should have stepped back and hoped that somebody else suggested you get the double bed (or the single bed and DH sleep in the floor)

Why?

Namechanger965 · 23/12/2022 13:11

Heavily pregnant person gets the bed obviously! Not an uncomfortable sofa bed or sharing a single bed (how would the two of you even fit?). Has someone made a fuss about it?

This is some typical mumsnet nonsense. There is nothing wrong for asking for things in a direct assertive manner.

Twiglets1 · 23/12/2022 13:12

You’re pregnant, you win. Shouldn’t need debating.

chary · 23/12/2022 13:13

@MadameSzyszkoBohusz those posters just like to be contrary.

amonsteronthehill · 23/12/2022 13:14

Without a firm commitment that you'll have a proper bed with a proper mattress, I wouldn't be going at 7 months pregnant.

Surely your husband has ensured this is happening, no? It's his parents.
