To ask you if you wash your feet?

Intrigued by the amount of people on another thread who seemingly don’t wash their feet (this includes my DH🤢)

Just wanted to do a kind poll to see how many people exactly don’t wash their feet in the shower (by washing you feet I mean actively rubbing or scrubbing them with soap and rinsing them off not just getting them wet in the shower)

YABU - you don’t wash your feet

YANBU - you do wash your feet

OP posts:

I don’t actively wash my feet every time I shower. Once or twice a week maybe. But they are clean, non smelly and never had a fungal infection in my life. Some people do have sweatier, smellier feet than others. Just as some sweat under their arms more and need stronger/specialist deodorants.

lap90 · 10/12/2022 07:55

Yes, it takes a few seconds.

chocolatemademefat · 10/12/2022 07:58

Yes - definitely. I have a shower scrunchie on a stick just to do the job.

Secnarf · 10/12/2022 07:59

cardibach · 09/12/2022 21:28

Would you just rinse your clothes in water? Dishes? Or do you think they need a proper wash? What about the towel you dry yourself with? How often does tha5 go in the machine with soap?
I don’t get people not washing properly.

it only became apparent in the second year at college when living out, that a friend didn’t believe that he needed to wash his towel as he was clean when he used it.

He was rapidly disabused of this misconception by his housemates!

(To my best knowledge, he did properly wash his feet).

BastardtheCat · 10/12/2022 08:06

I never used to make a point of it until my feet started to smell (badly) and I was so, so embarrassed. I think a bit of weight gain and some prolapsed discs made me less mobile and I became a bit complacent.

I realised that I'd really neglected my feet and on close inspection, they looked awful - split nails, beginnings of fungus (it can take hold so easily), excessive hard skin, damp between the toes etc - it's a part of the body I assumed would look after themselves.

Now, I have one of those feet brushes that I keep in the shower and focus on giving each a good scrub most days.

I treat myself to a bath every weekend and at the end of bath time, I pumice stone the hell out of the dry hotspots, then lavish them with Nivea.

They're loads better now.

Just need to dedicate the same TLC to the rest of me 😂

BastardtheCat · 10/12/2022 08:09

Oh, and if anyone can recommend me a better quality foot brush (one that suckers to the shower base so you can just shove your foot in and out of the bristles), I'd be most grateful. I'm on my third and they're not built to last which is a shame because they really do an amazing job!

Eww so grossed out by people not washing their feet! How is that okay!
But this isn't as worse as people not washing their bottoms after going to the toilet. Yuck

What do you mean by washing your bottom after a number 2? As in a shower or do you carry around a flannel and soap? Like for example if you are in work or out for dinner how do you wash your bottom if you have a poo, genuinely curious.

Sparklingbrook · 10/12/2022 08:25

NotSorry · 10/12/2022 07:53

I can’t believe there’s yet another post about this - the third in a week?

YABU for starting another post on the same topic

I know right. And now it’s turned into whether or not you wash your arse.
No doubt we can look forward to an all important poll thread abou that next 🙄
So OP can be shocked again.

BiasedBinding · 10/12/2022 08:28

I’m still reeling that someone upthread doesn’t wash their forearms <vomit vomit gag>

So you don’t use soap to clean your butt? Sad

"Butt" as in anus? Why would you use soap to clean your anus?

Just when MN had reached the low of polls about foot washing, who knew an even further low could be reached? 🤔

FirewomanSam · 10/12/2022 09:37

I do, but I can’t get worked up about people who don’t. I also give my legs a quick rub with soap but don’t dedicate ages to scrubbing away at my thighs and calves because they really don’t get dirty or sweaty on a daily basis. All the ‘I can’t believe people don’t wash their insert body part here’ posts are so tedious.

I didn't say I didn't wash them. I'm saying the sky wouldn't fall in if I didn't and I wouldn't smell any different. What are you doing with your forearms for them to get dirty/grubby/sweaty/even slightly unclean? Forearms cannot smell of their own accord (obviously if you have a dirty job or hobby etc it's different). It's perfectly obvious that I'm drawing a distinction between sweaty pits n bits and other parts of the body, like forearms n shins.

Hate to break this to you but surprisingly, humans aren't made out of fabrics or ceramics. Skin is a living organism and partially self-cleaning, and water - especially cold to lukewarm water - is perfectly adequate to get it clean. Less chance of damaging the natural protective barrier that way, too. Might be different if you're literally rolling about in muck in the nude every single day obviously.

Brandymakesmerandy · 10/12/2022 10:01

Nope but I soak in the bath for an hour every evening and shower first thing in the morning 🤷‍♀️.
My feet are lovely and clean 🤣

lemmein · 10/12/2022 02:26

Are you always so dramatic about banal matters that literally have fuck all to do with you? 😅

Why so touchy? A thread with opnions? Shocking! Do you not wash your bottom? Yuck, nasty and full of crumbs.

HarlanPepper · 10/12/2022 10:09

The absolute state of some of the sad sacks on here, doing vomit emojis because of the shower habits of people they will never meet.

Pelo2022 · 10/12/2022 10:13

@fdkc I do because I have an issue with recurrent UTIs and it helps to prevent them
If I'm out then no
If I'm at home then soap and a bidet bottle to rinse the soap - means any E. coli gets flushed down the toilet and doesn't risk travelling to the urethra

uhOhOP · 10/12/2022 10:15

CourtneeLuv · 10/12/2022 09:32

Jesus christ.

Believe me, I'm not one of these people who lets water run over their body for two minutes and calls it a shower, but I don't use soap on my anus in exactly the same way that I don't use soap on my vulva. Some places aren't meant to have soap. Or didn't you know that? That doesn't mean I don't thoroughly wash my anus, though.

The thread isn't even about 'bottoms' it just took an even weirder turn. Which body part will it be next?
