…to think you can’t have a Gingerbread PERSON?!

Lighthearted-ish.

Now I know there are more important issues to contend with, but honestly…

Bloody Sainsbury’s acting like twats calling a Gingerbread Man a Gingerbread Person. How utterly ridiculous is this, and who on earth came up with this? I’m hoping this batshit employee was fired shortly after. Why? What was the point?

I am fuming- absolutely incandescent with rage- and the children are crying (not mine as I don’t have any).

Calm down it has no gender identity

TreeWell · 02/12/2022 21:11

Never seen one with genitals yet... 🤷🏻‍♀️

polkadotdinosaur · 02/12/2022 21:11

Kinda makes no difference though, does it. Everyone is kicking off shouting about how woke it is on social media… the irony!

Are they? They've been around years though?

crussont · 02/12/2022 21:12

It would be good if they could make some with a missing limb

BilliousBob · 02/12/2022 21:14

It's not nearly as ridiculous as the Genderbread person.

unvillage · 02/12/2022 21:14

Feel free to draw a little penis on your gingerbread person if you like.

Very strange thing to get worked up about. It's very clearly not male.

NellesVilla · 02/12/2022 21:17

Come on, we’ve always had the Gingerbread Man- right or wrong. He’s in a rhyme, a story and even Shrek. We can’t forget all that…history and tradition!

OP posts:
Pumperthepumper · 02/12/2022 21:19

I’ve never seen one with a knob. Why can’t he be female?

ShinyMe · 02/12/2022 21:19

I don't get it. Why can't you have a gingerbread person?

XenoBitch · 02/12/2022 21:20

I think the person who got offended and called for change (if that did happen, I don't know) is the one who is BU.
It is a biscuit.

It could be a man or a woman or indeed a bit of both

RichardMarxisinnocent · 02/12/2022 21:21

At my local Sainsburys they sell a 2 pack of gingerbread people, one is a gingerbread woman the other a gingerbread man. I don't see a problem with gingerbread people.

GoodVibesHere · 02/12/2022 21:22

Surely it's 'a person of ginger bread'.

This thread has me thinking now... about building a snowman, drawing a snowman, and even the film 'The Snowman'.

Why is it always a snowman? Why is it never a snowoman?

well it pissed me off as a kid and it pisses me off now. What do girls get?

Where is the non-binary gingerbread person?

eosmum · 02/12/2022 21:22

Run Run as fast as you can you can’t catch me cried the gingerbread person. Nah doesn’t work😜

vodkaredbullgirl · 02/12/2022 21:23

Turn it upside down and make it a reindeer.

PATENT that.

I think it’s fine OP. It’s not a man, and it’s kind of annoying that so much is man as a default.

I DO TOTALLY understand it makes you sad for a simpler time etc (I do - am not being snarky) but your kids will love their ginger people just as much.

Sparklesocks · 02/12/2022 21:28

I’m not really fussed. They’re not exactly anatomically correct.

UniversalTruth · 02/12/2022 21:28

YABU the usual offer is a gingerbread bread man with gum drop buttons or a gingerbread woman dressed like a 1950s housewife.

So gingerbread person is step up from this surely.

Gingerbread torsos would be better for my diet

How do you know which is which? Surely you have to ask them how they identify?!

Wafflehouse · 02/12/2022 21:38

The individual ones have been sold as a gingerbread person in Sainsburys for years.
