To think Matt Hancock should have been voted off

He broke the covid rules he helped put in place. He cheated on his wife and left his children for the OW. Why the actual fuck are people voting for this Tory to stay?

JustDanceAddict · 27/11/2022 12:10

Probably all Tories voting for hilm. I never vote on anything but I’ve voted for Jill - I can’t moan if he wins if I don’t vote!!

As the celebs in there have said, they've had to separate "Matt Hancock" with "Matt" and I think they're right. He's on an entertainment programme. He's been very entertaining

In what way? I've been following throughout and all I've seen is disingenuous blustering, transparent attempts to play the nice guy/misunderstood underdog, and smugness once he'd survived a few eliminations.

UmbilicusProfundus · 27/11/2022 12:19

Well I haven’t been watching that closely @Yesnoormaybe so maybe I have missed something about Mike. In what way has he been bullying? But thanks for the ad hominem argument in any case 🙂

UmbilicusProfundus · 27/11/2022 12:20

Agree with you @bringincrazyback

Parky04 · 27/11/2022 13:52

Have never watched it, but have giving 5 votes to Matt. If he wins the meltdown will be hilarious!

It will

Strangestthings · 27/11/2022 14:21

nothing to do with politics, he is awkward and self-serving and not likeable at all. People are obviously trying to prove a point by voting for him.

JenniferBooth · 27/11/2022 14:33

YY @VladmirsPoutine I suspect many of Hancocks fans are from the laptop class who gained the most from the lockdowns.

YY @VladmirsPoutine I suspect many of Hancocks fans are from the laptop class who gained the most from the lockdowns.

Why do you say that?

People here who wanted lockdowns seem to dislike him more. Ie the left

TheHateIsNotGood · 27/11/2022 14:36

LOL at the idea of Tory voters keeping MH in the 'jungle'. Are we to believe that the same elderly, white, well-off Brexiteers that MN describes as Tories are now watching this programme and voting for MH in droves?

I don't think so.

JenniferBooth · 27/11/2022 14:45

YY @Gem123J Hancock gaslighted us yet AGAIN when he came out with his "it was just guidelines" on his second day in the jungle

Guidelines? SO WHY WERE PEOPLE FINED then Matt?

MarshaBradyo · 27/11/2022 14:49

The people that wanted lockdown, annoyed re PPE, loathe Matt Hancock

Not sure it’s the laptop people who wanted lockdown, more public sector and left.

CantStartaFireWithoutaSpark · 26/11/2022 22:32

He’s very likeable on it!
he is the only reason I am watching.

I hope he wins! 😂

Same! I've never watched it before and am watching just for him - really hope he wins - he's so refreshing!

JenniferBooth · 27/11/2022 15:00

I wonder if the attitudes on here would have been different if it had been childrens homes instead of care homes.

JenniferBooth · 27/11/2022 15:07

@lollyloo88 In your examples given none of them would have MADE the rules

MarshaBradyo · 27/11/2022 15:08

If you mean the virus had affected children more yes the response would have likely been different, but hard to say. Luckily we didn’t find out

But that’s not to say young people didn’t take the burden anyway for a low risk virus for most

JenniferBooth · 27/11/2022 15:15

They did @MarshaBradyo i completely agree.

I separated Matt Hancock and Matt. It resulted in 2 arseholes.

Withholdingvitalinfo · 26/11/2022 22:47

Type of ppl that watch that and vote are the type of ppl that voted Leave and Tory.

Exactly. It doesn't represent the rest of the country. I don't know anyone who would vote for him, but they think I'm a celeb is trashy shit and don't watch it anyway. Actually he fits in perfectly there. 😂

rubbishatballet · 27/11/2022 16:55

Well I'm a Labour and Remain voter (and work for the NHS to boot) and I've been voting for him. I don't think he did a terrible job during Covid and that he probably did his best with the cards he was dealt (personal life fuck up notwithstanding...).

I like his can-do positivity and resilience in the jungle, and I think he has an interesting back story.

Gem123J · 27/11/2022 18:12

ExcaliburBaby · 27/11/2022 07:20

my husband couldn’t be with his dad when he died because of the rules. Or have a wake after his funeral. I’ll never forget or forgive that. And to be more bothered about someone getting the age of a child who died alone wrong; than the actual fact that a child died alone....words fail me.

@ExcaliburBaby

I’m sorry to hear your husband had to go through that.

People seem to forget about this kind of suffering. No he didn’t cause Covid, but it’s taking the piss when the government were out doing whatever the hell they liked, whilst some “normal folk” died alone, the families not able to attend their funeral to say their final goodbye etc.

And yep, someone arguing with me because I got the age wrong, absolutely bonkers! Still happened regardless of the age of the child, also
still utterly sad.

Gem123J · 27/11/2022 18:18

Aprilx · 27/11/2022 07:40

I had a relative that died in hospital in August 2020. There were no guidelines that prevented visiting, other patients had some restrictions, but my relative who was known to be dying was always allowed visitors. Strange that this large city centre hospital did not know these “guidelines” or perhaps they are just not being accurately recalled.

@Aprilx

the rules were a LOT different in August 2020 than April 2020.

There are many articles also stating what happened, I provided a link for one. Just because I got the age wrong doesn’t mean I got the whole story wrong!!

Again, isn’t it still sad that a 13 died alone? Or anyone of any age for that matter. There is a lot of people who lack empathy on this thread, those who support Matt Hancock I bet! Lack of empathy = borderline psychopathic behaviour!

Anyway, in no way am I saying I’m against lockdown, at the time it was very scary, but the people who set these rules, and reminded us the importance of the rules and so on, to then break them themselves, while many suffered alone, that’s what I’m against!!

Gem123J · 27/11/2022 18:23

PicturesOfDogs · 27/11/2022 09:09

The funny thing is, all everyone can ever do is point out what the government did wrong. No one can seem to say what the perfect reaction should have been in regards to care homes etc.
And that’s with the benefit of hindsight.

All you hear is people saying they couldn’t see their loved ones, which seems to suggest they believe there shouldn’t have been any restrictions?

So tell me wise ones, what should they have done that would have enabled the stop of the spread, with no tests/vaccines that would have allowed people to see loved ones?

@PicturesOfDogs

Your assumption is incorrect. Me going on about not seeing dying family in hospital or being able to attend their funeral is not about the restrictions. It’s the fact that the one who lectured us on sticking to the rules broke the rules himself! Can’t you see how that’s wrong?
