To not like leaving the house?

RoomOfRequirement · 26/10/2022 12:58

I love being at home. I love being 'lazy' at home.

I dread when friends ask me to make plans which is crazy, because I always enjoy myself when I'm out! But I find having plans a waste of annual leave or days off when I could enjoy doing nothing so much more.

When I do have to run errands or make plans, I try to lump them all together, or on a day I already have to be out, to minimize the 'wasted' days off.

Also oddly, if I am roped into something with little notice on the day, that feels 'better' than dreading it up to that point, even if it's an enjoyable outing.

I am also one of those people who fixates on time, so if I need to be at the doctor or meeting a friend at 2pm I feel like I can't relax in the house at all until then which I know is crazy! So I try to plan everything for 8 or 9am.

I know IABU. I'm just hoping there are others like me about! Also can we be friends 😁

Yes, me!

There is nothing wrong with being comfortable and happy in your own space.

Valid8me · 26/10/2022 13:02

I'm the opposite - if I have a day off and spend it sat on my ass watching TV (which I frequently do!), I feel like I've wasted a day.

And don't plan anything for me at 8:00 or 0900am on a day off, I'll still be in bed!

HumourReplacementTherapy · 26/10/2022 13:05

Yes this is me. I am known as the hedgehog 🦔 as I hibernate in winter. This winter seemed to start in September though.
See you next March ish Grin

Hangupsrus · 26/10/2022 13:06

This is 100 percent me, I could have written that myself op.

Lcb123 · 26/10/2022 13:12

I'm the opposite :) I am so stingy with my annual leave, I'd never take a day off and stay at home. But if you're happy then great!

JorisBonson · 26/10/2022 13:15

This is me right now, but I am poorly and also in the middle of a bad depressive episode. I would gladly never leave the house again right now.

WorkerBeeeee · 26/10/2022 13:27

I'm exactly the same.
I need at least one day a week where I don't have to leave the house.
And I "lump" my errands together.
Agree though that it's useful to plan something for 9am to force myself out of bed.
And yes, I can't do more than 1 thing in a day. So it's either: work OR social OR a bunch of errands. And can't relax until i've done the thing.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 26/10/2022 17:53

I'm also like this. I remember the first bit of lockdown I quite liked having to stay indoors. It soon wore thin though. But yes I am just like you Smile

Freeasabird76 · 26/10/2022 18:04

Yes,I'd gladly never leave the house again, have always been a homebody but escaled since I've suffered with depression.

hesbeingabitofadick · 26/10/2022 18:19

Are you me? Grin

I'm glad there's a few of us about!

BoxOfCats · 26/10/2022 18:45

Hooray, I feel happy I'm not the only one who feels like this.

floraflo · 26/10/2022 18:50

This is me too. The older I get, the less I want to be out. I just want to be at home, doing what I want, on my own.

Jackie246 · 26/10/2022 18:50

I am exactly the same!!

Mummadeze · 26/10/2022 18:52

Covid made me like this. I used to love socialising. Now I prefer being at home.

romdowa · 26/10/2022 18:54

There's just too many people out there! I love being at home, all my things are here , I'm comfy, warm , there are snacks and I can wear what I like. I don't understand people who spend thousands in rent/ mortgages and then are rarely at home.

ParentallyUnprepared · 26/10/2022 18:54

I'm the same.

I like to keep a weekend day free so I can have a day in, otherwise it feels like I've wasted the weekend doing stuff instead of relaxing.

LadyVictoriaSponge · 26/10/2022 18:54

I’m the same and as much as I love being home I do acknowledge it’s made my world quite small especially as I work from home and I live in a very secluded area so can literally see no other human for days on end, not sure it’s healthy really.

TiptoeThroughTheToadstools · 26/10/2022 18:57

YANBU I could have written this!

Ludo19 · 26/10/2022 18:57

I'm happy in my own company. I love being at home, doing what I fancy whether it be cleaning or sitting watching the real housewives obviously not ALL the time. I'm now finding the whole socialising thing tiring and I'm easily annoyed and just want to be at home, with my cats!

HenryHenrietta · 26/10/2022 19:00

I am getting a bit like this too op! I like near a major city and I am now really reluctant to go there. It's not the worst journey in, but euq

HenryHenrietta · 26/10/2022 19:01

Posted too soon!

Equally, it isn't totally straightforward. Anyway, I won't go out in the city at the minute. I used to go all the time but am totally off the idea

mumumumumumm · 26/10/2022 19:01

I can absolutely relate to everything you just said OP!

Rauha · 26/10/2022 19:04

I feel so seen. YANBU! 🤗

3catsandcounting · 26/10/2022 19:04

Yes, me! I love being at home, doing jobs, pottering and procrastinating!
When someone says "I don't know how you're fixed for xx date" or "are you free
next Friday?", my heart sinks a little.
I love going out, I love seeing friends, but it's the effort!
If I have more than a couple of things arranged I get overwhelmed and want to hide away.

Discobabe98 · 26/10/2022 19:04

Oh me too 100%.

And as you said I dread having plans, but enjoy them when they happen! Just don’t like the thought in my head that I’ll have less of the day to be chilling out etc and plans loom over me too- I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being a homebody though. Rent is dear enough I’m glad I get the most out of my living space Grin
