In a supernatural hypothetical situation if you were told you died 5 years younger than you are going to/destined to by the Gods/creator (whatever) and you get 5 million quid would you take it?

Yes.

Soubriquet · 22/10/2022 19:59

Yes

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 22/10/2022 19:59

Yes

Floatyunicorn · 22/10/2022 19:59

Yes

DamnUserName21 · 22/10/2022 19:59

I would too.

EndersGame · 22/10/2022 19:59

the last few years are pretty shit anyway so why not

Sarahcoggles · 22/10/2022 19:59

It depends when I was going to die. If I was only going to live to 60 then no I wouldn't take it, because I'm 55 now and not ready to die. But if it meant the difference between 95 and 90 then yes definitely !

SnarkyBag · 22/10/2022 20:00

Well I suppose that depends. If the gods were going to let me live until I were 90 then yes. If I’m destined to die at 50 then no

Willyoujustbequiet · 22/10/2022 20:00

No. I'm all my children have.

PutYourShoesOnWereLate · 22/10/2022 20:00

Hmm. Can I assume I am likely to live to the average life expectancy age? Or is there a chance that I'm fated to die at 47, in which case I'd have £5million but less than a year left to live?

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/10/2022 20:00

I'd want to know how and when I died. I wouldn't trade quality 5 years with DD if I die young. But 5 years in a care home with dementia, sure.

If I didn't know, it's not worth the risk.

Thatiswild · 22/10/2022 20:01

Yes

ofwarren · 22/10/2022 20:01

No

tiggergoesbounce · 22/10/2022 20:01

Im assuming we are rolling the dice on how old that will be. I absolutely wouldn't. I want to be around the ones i love as long as i can

InDubiousBattle · 22/10/2022 20:01

No chance, my mum died in her forties. I'm 43!

Chamomileteaplease · 22/10/2022 20:01

As others have said, the years of 85-90 are likely to be full of health problems so yes.

But not worth it if you die too early, I would say anything up to 80.

voiceofmarion · 22/10/2022 20:02

No. I'm all my children have

yea but in the law of averages you will live into your 80s and your kids will be adults by then or at least by your passing they will be independent adults with their own lives.

If I were in my 20s, I'd say yes.
Now I'm in my 60s, no way Jose. Those 5 years have a lot more value now than they did then.

mrssunshinexxx · 22/10/2022 20:04

No

voiceofmarion · 22/10/2022 20:04

By the way you aren't told anything about the future by the Gods, just that 5 years is shaved off so whether you die at 98 or 28 is irrelevant here because you aren't allowed to know.

Then it's not worth the gamble for me.

NumptiesIncorporated · 22/10/2022 20:05

Yes, as long as I was living to a decent age. I would be able to set my life up for life. That's worth five years of mine.

PauliesWalnuts · 22/10/2022 20:05

Nope. My family die early enough as it is - none of my nuclear family lived long enough to claim their state pension. I want my money’s worth out of life and there is still so much I want to do.

Whowhatwherewhenwhynow · 22/10/2022 20:06

Yes if you mean 5 years off my life expectancy:

It's a no from me then. You could literally die the second you've taken the money.
