In a supernatural hypothetical situation if you were told you died 5 years younger than you are going to/destined to by the Gods/creator (whatever) and you get 5 million quid would you take it?

Yes. I’m actually quite worried about living to the point of needing care because of complex allergies and a medical system that can’t handle my needs now.

TaraRhu · 22/10/2022 21:44

Yes. It would potentially add 5 years to my kids life.

AuntieEntity · 22/10/2022 21:44

No I wouldn't. I was an older Mum and already have less time with my DD than I'd like. I wouldn't want to lose 5 years off that time.

RaininSummer · 22/10/2022 21:44

Yep why not? Even if it meant I died tomorrow at least my kids would be well provided for.

midgetastic · 22/10/2022 21:46

No

I don't need more stuff
I don't want to spoil my family with easy money
I enjoy myself
Money doesn't bring happiness ( although lack can bring misery )

Moonatics · 22/10/2022 21:47

I'd take less than 5 mil.
My children are allegedly adults, if I dropped dead after receiving the large sum they would be set up and frankly life can be utterly shit. Especially towards the end. And if I didn't drop dead I'd have a large sum of money, large enough I wouldn't have to work again.
Win win.

00kitty · 22/10/2022 21:49

No, you can keep the mollah. Life is too short and you could well end up dead the second you got the cash!

Mummyoflittledragon · 22/10/2022 21:53

Yes. I would also do that more than just 5 years. I’ve deteriorated so much and I’m tired.

Novum · 22/10/2022 21:54

Yes

Oysterbabe · 22/10/2022 21:54

Yes, absolutely. I'm only 41 and already pretty tired.

FelicityFlops · 22/10/2022 21:55

Interesting question. I am 64, women in my family tend to live to around 90, so I have about 26 years to go.
Take 5 years off, I would be 85. I think that would be fine.

ilukp · 22/10/2022 22:00

Yes I'd do it. But I'd quit work immediately and just start roaming, which is what I want to do anyway.

MiniPumpkin · 22/10/2022 22:01

If it’s just for my life , yes. My kids are only 1 & 4 so if it means missing 5 years of them growing up , then no

sjxoxo · 22/10/2022 22:06

Yes I think I would, if I felt that my chances of living a longer/healthier life were good - which I do. If I thought for any reason my time would be cut very short, then no. X

MrsMitford3 · 22/10/2022 22:08

no. 100% no
I am so shocked that ppl would

HollyJollypup · 22/10/2022 22:17

Yes but I’d make a will leaving it to my children, just incase I died instantly.

Gloryofthe80s · 22/10/2022 22:20

Not a chance. I’ve got more than £5m in the bank right now and more things that I want to do than I can fit into an average lifetime, let alone one shortened by 5 years.

tandmoo · 22/10/2022 22:21

Some people saying yes will die on the next five years!

Hbh17 · 22/10/2022 22:27

Yes, and for a lot less money than that - or even no money, tbh, as so many people now live for far too long without any quality of life.

ddl1 · 22/10/2022 22:34

Depends on how long I had to live. If it meant dying tomorrow instead of in 5 years' time, then no. As they say, you can't take it with you. If it meant dying in 25 years' time instead of 30 years' time, then yes: that 5 million quid would come in quite handy in providing care and comfort in my old age, and I do value quality of life over quantity of life.

XenoBitch · 22/10/2022 22:38

SallyWD · 22/10/2022 21:42

No, I think life is far more precious than money. I'm surprised at all the people saying yes!

Because life is not great for a lot of people, and they can't face 80+ years of it.

mondaytosunday · 22/10/2022 22:48

No, unless I was guaranteed to be living until about 90. But at the average lifespan of 82 years, l certainly do not want to go at 77. Ask any 77 year old about to die and they'd probably give anything to stay alive for another five years.

Applesandcarrots · 22/10/2022 23:03

I think these type of questions show people who had to aatch loved ones wither and know the issues might be running in family, and people who have healthy genes.
Which is fine, everyone has different life!

MadelineUsher · 22/10/2022 23:12

Judging by many of the posts on diet here, many are happy to lop 20-40 years off their healthspan and/or life for the sake of some highly processed foods they love.

mackthepony · 22/10/2022 23:14

Yes sir ee
