To give buyers on Vinted poor feedback

If they are slow to mark goods as received?
I am really fed up of buyers receiving my stuff and then taking 9, 10, 14 days to mark as received. It means it takes nearly a month for me to get the money. Aibu to give those that do this a low star rating and comment that they were slow to mark goods as received?

I think it is unreasonable- they paid and you sent an item. I didnt know I needed to mark stuff as picked up for the seller to get the money- it's the problem with how the service is organised. But that is no fault of the buyers.
If somepone did what you are planning to do I'd be petty and buy something else from them and plonk a low star rating in return just because.

InsomniacVampire · 09/10/2022 08:47

You can always message them and ask to mark it as received. Not everyone is on the app all the time to check and not everyone remembers to do it.

TightDiamondShoes · 09/10/2022 08:48

how do you know they’ve definitely received it? I live in the far north of Scotland and it’s marked as received when it reaches Aberdeen and is put in the care of local couriers… may well take another week to reach me. And the post office is just about to make things trickier.

give “me” poor feedback if you like - I care not one bit.

if you want instant money use fb or eBay - Vinted’s business model is very different even aside my personal problems with couriers.

wonderingwhatsnext · 09/10/2022 08:49

I think YANBU. The app gives reminders to mark at received. Perhaps message them first?

HunterHearstHelmsley · 09/10/2022 08:50

The first few times I used vinted I didn't realise you had to mark stuff as received for the seller to get the money. I'd just mark as received when I got chance.

If someone gave me bad feedback because of that, I'd probably buy more of their items to return the favour 🤣

SpinningFloppa · 09/10/2022 08:51

I didn’t know at first either. I wouldn’t leave bad feedback as they will probably do the same to you just send a message.

BrilliantGreenFlamingo · 09/10/2022 08:53

I think you can ask for them to do it. Then give negative feedback if they don’t.

b8tes7sw · 09/10/2022 08:54

I'm probably one for this as I didn't realise you had to mark as received for the seller to get the cash!

Minkymandy · 09/10/2022 08:54

YANBU I have over £100 pending buyers confirming receipt of goods and I want my money 😟 I sent things the same day they order so I am fast. I know they have received the goods as courier uploads a photo

Loics · 09/10/2022 08:55

Why not ask them first? For them it'll be one obviously petty bad review, for you, it'll be numerous low ratings when each buyer you do it to gives you bad feedback in return. I wouldn't be put off dealing with someone for one bad review, with many I'd probably avoid.

Lwg87 · 09/10/2022 08:58

I was pestered by one seller to mark as received literally as soon as it was delivered to the door. I was out for the day and didn't get home until late that night. I know people want their money and I do mark as received as soon as I've opened it and checked but that seller made me feel very uncomfortable.

purpleboy · 09/10/2022 08:59

I think it's just part and parcel of Vinted sown will mark it quickly some won't, I would message them and ask them first.

Weirdwonders · 09/10/2022 09:06

I don’t know how buyers can claim they don’t know this is how it works. It’s explained when you set up your account. It’s just ignorance.

eltonjohnsglasses · 09/10/2022 09:09

I didn't know you had to do this. I just checked my last purchase & the app had done automatic feedback.

tackling · 09/10/2022 09:10

Oh I had no idea you had to do this as a buyer:

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 09/10/2022 09:10

Oh jeez this is probably me! I had no idea you didn't get paid until this was done!!

I'm off to check my Vinted now and make sure I'm not making anyone wait!

tackling · 09/10/2022 09:10

The app seems to give auto feedback for me too:

eltonjohnsglasses · 09/10/2022 09:11

where do you mark as received as I cannot see it on my purchases or notifications?

SundayRoast5 · 09/10/2022 09:12

I've just started using Vinted recently and have wondered this myself. I've sold 7 things already and as I post via Royal Mail I've had to spend £20 out of my own pocket until I can get the money back which is a bit annoying. I can't really complain though as it's my own choice to send through them but it's only because I don't have a printer at home so can't print off the labels for the likes of Evri etc.

I understand the reasoning behind sellers not being given access to the money straight away after a sale and I definitely wouldn't leave someone a bad review without asking them first. At least give them a chance, they might have just forgotten etc. The only thing I don't agree with is the length of time between the item being sent and Vinted releasing the money on the buyers behalf if they've forgotten to press received. It's nearly a month. I posted something yesterday and a message came through to say they would release the money after November 7th if buyer forgets.

ReeseWitherfork · 09/10/2022 09:12

The app is terrible though. The messages are just a bit jumble of everything and it’s so easy to lose things. I got alerted to one recently that I’d not ticked to say I’d received. Guess the postman caught me when I was busy and I forgot. Agree with PP… just ask the person!

Smilelesstalkmore · 09/10/2022 09:12

Have you messaged them?

MyCatIsAChonk · 09/10/2022 09:13

I didn't know this so I would give bad feedback if you did it to me. And reasonably you're not owed feedback. It's not the buyers fault that vinted has this system.

Fe345fleur · 09/10/2022 09:15

I buy and sell on Vinted. It's very easy to forget to mark as received. I think it's because you don't have to do this with most other platforms eg eBay. The app does remind you though, although it seems to be only if the courier has registered it as delivered. So I'd give them the benefit of the doubt. Suggest try sending them a polite message to remind them before you give them a feedback rating?

PorridgewithQuark · 09/10/2022 09:15

Are you sure they receive the items as quickly as you're assuming? Are you sending a friendly brief message a few days after posting, asking them to mark the parcel as received if it's arrived?

Either way as long as they do mark the items received you do get your money, so IMO you are pretty unrealistic. If they ignored polite messages reminding them to mark the parcel received or if they falsely claimed goods weren't as described in an attempt to get part of their money back and keep the items, then you'd be right to give them negative ratings.

ShandaLear · 09/10/2022 09:15

I had no idea either! I think I’ve always don’t it anyway, but didn’t realise it triggered payment. Will be much speedier from now on.
