To want to look my age?!

I'm 34 and yet I look 14. Honestly. I'm sick of the stares and comments when I tell people I'm a mum of three and the eldest is 12.

I dress to my age. I think so anyway! My hair is always shoved up in a ponytail or mum bun otherwise the baby yanks it.

It's becoming a bore now though. Yes "I'll appreciate it when I'm older" blah blah but what can I do to look like the professional woman / mid thirties mum that I am!!?

Tina O'Brian with her hair back in a ponytail etc could have passed for a teen in her 30's, she is starting to look older now she's pushing 40, but she doesn't look it. She often looks like she's playing dress up. My DD is 27, she's 5'4" and a size 6/8, when she goes into a new ward in the hospital that she works in people think she's on an apprenticeship or still training. The only truly younger looking women I've known haven't been white. I have seen black people in their 50's who look in their 30's and Asian people can be difficult to age.

She's 39 apparently. I've just had a look at her Instagram and on her latest posts she looks every inch her age - I wouldn't have even been surprised if she were early 40s. She's delicately pretty with an elfin face, but that doesn't stop her looking like an obviously grown woman.

Just looked at ToB's Instagram and no way would I have put her in her forties. She looks way younger to me.

Really? In that most recent little video, if you were told she was 41 for instance you'd think no way, she's a teenager?

Nah I didn't say she looked like a teenager. I said she looked way younger than forties. She looks very early thirties to me.

don’t know how anyone can think she looked like a teenage girl only a few years ago. My daughter is 14, I have nieces that are 15 and 18 and she doesn’t look anywhere near as young as they do and they look their ages. People are just really bad at guessing ages.

She really doesn't though. I'm approaching mid 40s and she looks very similar age wise to me, and all my school/ uni friends the same age. Its most apparent in the video where you see her moving rather than in filtered pictures. I doubt that we all happen to look unusually young, more that she just looks like a 40 year old. She looks her age like most people tend to.

So we shouldn’t challenge delusion? And if we do, we’re the idiots? That makes sense I suppose, if you’re suffering from delusion.

Not much you can do I think, except not dye your hair when it goes grey- and count your blessings! I’m late 30s and already look about a decade older!

My BIL is the same - married father of three, a teacher, aged nearly 35. He looks about 17. He grew a beard, which helps, but not much!

But she says she wears skinny jeans which aren't trendy. I don't see any teens wear them at all. It's all huge loose jeans these days.

Nicola Coughlan the actor from Derry girls is 35 and plays a 16 year old convincingly. All the actors in that series are in their 20's and 30's but definitely look much younger.

14 is a similar age to one of my DC. In your mid 30s I highly doubt you look that age based on a couple of 'you look younger' comments from people.

It’s pretty much the way you dress. Dress very casually in a younger fashion such as hoodies, trainers and a pony tail you will give an impression you are younger than you are at first glance. Take these two pictures of Meghan the casual picture she could pass to be in her twenties at first glance, the more tailored and polished outfit she looks what she is, a woman in her late thirties. I can’t think of a single celebrity in their mid thirties who really does looks 14, so if celebs can’t manage it I don’t think ordinary folk can, it seems to be a strange phenomenon only found on mumsnet.

OP is obviously on a wind up here, as she can't even clarify the alleged situation of her being confused for her 12 year old DD, while said DD was next to her. It's quite funny actually.

They do not look anything like teenagers! They play teenagers well, but anyone can see they’re older - just like the cast of the film Grease.

Why don't you put on a uniform, go to your daughter's school and sit among the yr9s.
