Horrible this

https://twitter.com/shannonrwatts/status/1667589406511988742?s=20
Two dozen white supremacists are outside the main Disney World entrance in Orlando right now, marching with signs featuring Gov DeSantis’s face, swastikas, the n-word and homophobic slurs.

This is the 2023 Republican Party.

AcrossthePond55 · 10/06/2023 20:58

It's not the first time that's happened outside WDW, won't be the last. It's a handful of people standing on a street corner showing their ignorance. Does Disney give a rat's ass? No, no they don't as long as they don't step foot on Disney property.

In the run up to the 2016 election and especially after the 2020 election they were ubiquitous on corners in just about every town in the US. They usually looked pretty ridiculous in their quasi-military camo and fake fatigues waving their banners and strutting about.

We're in for this for the next 18 months.

And absolutely no sense of discretion or intuition when it comes to people. I wouldn't trust an acid casualty like Kid Rock any farther than I could spit into a hurricane.

New: Trump expected to leave Bedminster shortly to get to Florida this afternoon. He’s spending the day meeting potential lawyers — though David Markus is said to have already turned him down. Another said to be meeting with Trump is Ben Kuehne, who has previously been indicted.

As of now, per ppl familiar, Trump expected to do his arraignment with Todd Blanche and Chris Kise — who is barred in Southern District of Florida — but if he retains new counsel today, they could also appear. For the arraignment, Trump will enter thru sally port, not main door.

News stations have been showing aerial views of his private jet sitting on the runway with 3 black SUVs, a police SUV, and an ambulance along with various cars.

Oh, there he goes The just is taxiing as I type.

JET, not 'just'.

I'm surprised that a disbarred (in FL) atty could be any part of the arraignment. Although I suppose as long as he sits there silent there might not be an issue🤷🏼‍♀️.

The indictment of Keuhne for money laundering in connection with a drugs cartel was in 2008 and was dismissed in 2014. It still leaves a bad odor around him, doesn't it? And I can see how he might appeal to GOB.

Roussette · 12/06/2023 20:35

I am abroad and watching Sky News and thinking WTAF!

This sounds serious for trumpy i hope

Confusingly, I think barred in this case means 'admitted to the bar', rather than what it sounds like, so Kise is registered to practice in Florida.

I honestly can't believe anyone is willing to represent him at this point.

Ive never heard it worded like that. I've heard 'licensed to practice in....' and 'admitted to the bar in....' but never 'barred in....'.

You learn something new every day.

And I agree with you. IANAL but I'd chew glass before representing someone like GOB. I figure they're either greedy publicity hounds looking to make a name for themselves in certain circles or they're cult members. Either way I don't think they have any real ethics.

Yeah, the wording is very odd, but I guess it makes sense in the context of 'disbarred', which is possibly his lawyers' fate soon. Anyone who'd take it on at this point is either a zealot or deluded.

We're currently watching White House Plumbers and marvelling over how almost innocent their criming was, albeit it's a heavily fictionalised version.

I haven't watched that yet.

I hear what you mean about 'innocent criming'. GOB et all make Nixon and his cohorts look like choir boys. Almost.

Trump’s stolen documents w/ nuclear secrets & national defense plans were UNSECURED in public — were stored in a bathroom, shower, ballroom stage, & storage room

Good grief 😮

@greenacrylicpaint

In terms of future business (because I think we can all assume Trump will stiff them)? I don't know. It seems to be a career-ruiner for a lot of them, even the ones who don't end up in legal trouble themselves. I suppose there are clients/firms that would see it as a positive, but I think it's largely perceived negatively. Certainly, the list of prestigious firms that have turned him down over the last 6 years is very long.

The News Agents are doing special US episodes, will be worth listening to

For our first episode of TNA: USA, @jonsopel is outside the Miami courthouse where Donald Trump will appear on charges of mishandling classified documents.

The booking process for Trump and his co-defendant Walt Nauta is now complete, CNN reports from inside the courthouse. He is under arrest.

greenacrylicpaint · 13/06/2023 19:55

I listened to the lawfare read through on my commute.

very interesting indeed.

they had issues with pronouncing nauta

as said on cnn n. is in a bit of a pickle with t*'s loyalty being a 'one way street'.

Roussette · 13/06/2023 21:03

Watching Trump leaving Miami and I can't get over all of this. The tension is Shock, an anti trump jumped in front the car and was mobbed. The people against the institution it seems, and he is trying to undermine the judicial system?

I'm trying to get my head round it. I just don't understand it.

how are bail conditions handled if indited(so?) in different states?

greenacrylicpaint · 13/06/2023 21:07

Each state sets its own bail laws, they just have to be Constitutional. Trump's are federal charges and the federal system has its own laws. But they're all pretty much similar

Basically bail is set dependent upon the crime and if the person posts bail they are released, normally on their own recognizance. Bail can range from signing a personal 'no cash bond' simply promising to return for court to having to hand over money or pledge property as surety for return. Chances are Trump will have a 'no cash bond' since the courts will assume that he'll show up for court.
