AIBU to need a very stiff drink after watching that all day?

Spent most of today in tears.

Brought out the coffin from Westminster Hall, cried my eyes out.
Saw Charles wipe away a tear, cried my eyes out.
Heard beautiful choir with lovely angelic voices...cried my eyes out.
Taking the orb and spectre, the Crown Jewels away...cried
Final speech sending Queen Elizabeth II and all her titles to be laid to rest...sobbed
Hailing the new King and his titles....cried too.

I now need a stiff drink.

What is it going to be?

I had more than a few large whiskies the day she died - seemed appropriate

Stopandlook · 19/09/2022 18:20

I had a wonderful day at the beach. I feel fantastic after 10 difficult days. No alcohol needed.

I’m sorry for you loss though Flowers

Spanielsarepainless · 19/09/2022 18:20

Having a large whisky and ginger ale!

ShinyMe · 19/09/2022 18:21

I just had a large port.

AnotherCountryMummy · 19/09/2022 18:22

I'm putting the baby to bed then fixing myself a large one. Similar to you, OP, I cried a lot today. Especially seeing her horse there 😭

enjoyingscience · 19/09/2022 18:22

Try a dubonnet and gin with a slice of lemon

PinkRiceKrispies · 19/09/2022 18:22

Feeling the same. Emotionally wrung out.

mbosnz · 19/09/2022 18:24

I'd be wanting a stiff drink if I'd seen a spectre at a funeral. . .

MarshaBradyo · 19/09/2022 18:25

I don’t feel like a drink but I do feel like I need to decompress

SliceoQuiche · 19/09/2022 18:25

I feel the same… Unfortunately I had no idea it would be so emotional for so long, and I’ve agreed to go and help at a rehearsal for a comedy theatre show at 8pm… desperately not in the mood!

😁same!

(Am about to have a large G&T in her honour. We had a bottle of fizz earlier to toast her too)

LookBackInIngres · 19/09/2022 18:34

Massive dirty martini here. Upgrade from g & t.

Prinnny · 19/09/2022 18:35

We had afternoon tea with Prosecco and a cheers to Ma’am. Emotionally drained.

mamabear715 · 19/09/2022 18:37

Aww bless you all. I don't drink but sometimes wish I did!
What a lovely thread. Please don't visit some of the others about today. Very sad & hurtful.
Have a drink for me too, please, I DID read them.. :-(

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 19/09/2022 18:38

The fading bagpipes set me off. Along with George and Charlotte singing God save the King for some reason.

TastesLikeFlavourlessFizz · 19/09/2022 18:38

Go for it! It’s standard after a funeral!

I’m feeling quite relaxed. Woke up with a stotting headache, utterly miserable. Cried all day watching the funeral and now my headache has dwindled because I’ve released some of the tension. Better than syndol!

mamabear715 · 19/09/2022 18:38

(Actually I was thinking of deregistering until I came to this thread. Fed up of all the toxicity.) :-(

properdoughnut · 19/09/2022 18:40

Cup of tea

MrSnowmansCarrotStickNose · 19/09/2022 18:43

What set me off was the end when they showed brief clips of the day and the lovely music over it. I'd managed to (just) keep it together until then.

unsync · 19/09/2022 18:45

The Corgis gave me a bit of a wobble, but it was the final bit when Charles had to put the small flag on the coffin. It made me think of how I felt on the day of my mother's funeral. I'm pleased that they are finally able to have a private service after all the public hoopla.

PlacematsandCoasters · 19/09/2022 18:46

My eyes have been leaking on and off all day so we’re having a glass or two of wine. No idea how I’m going to get up for work in the morning when my head feels like it’s been put through a mangle with a day of such sadness, beauty and emotion.

Hbh17 · 19/09/2022 18:47

Blimey, yes. And I've spent most of the past week hoping that Camilla has a hip flask in her handbag - if we feel drained, what must it be like for the family?

mamabear715 · 19/09/2022 18:47

@unsync I just said the same to my sis. We had a few hours at our mum's funeral. The royals have had about ten non stop days & now TODAY. If I could get the first round in for them, I would do, bless them..

Vicliz24 · 19/09/2022 18:48

I've just poured a large glass of red . The taking off of the Crown Jewels and the fading piper absolutely broke me . I'm still welling up now.

Suzi888 · 19/09/2022 18:50

They must all be exhausted.

Glad the family get a private funeral to say their goodbyes,m. I cannot imagine having to go through this, I certainly do not envy royal life.
