To ask how not to stink in the morning?

Name changed.

I shower every morning, use deodorant, clean clothes etc. I don't smell during the day.

I wear clean, loose pjs each night. Generally thinish cotton. But oh my, when I wake up, I REEK between my legs! Sometimes I do get hot/sweaty at night (I wake up drenched sometimes) so I know why on those days but other days, like last night I sleep normally, wake up fine and just stink. It's not BV.

It doesn't make much difference if I shower before bed. Other people are still able to smell it in the morning.

I've tried knickers/no knickers and wearing panty liners but that makes no difference either.

Help! I'm due to share a room with a friend in a few weeks.

What is the smell op? And could it be linked to hormone changes eg are you menopausal or peri?

KangarooKenny · 17/09/2022 09:37

Are you leaking urine ?

dmask · 17/09/2022 09:42

I would go to the doctor.

Raul57 · 17/09/2022 09:45

Go to docs, see the nurse.
Check you are not leaking.
consider trim really helps.
But go to doc, please for reassurance and gudinace.

BloodyHellKen · 17/09/2022 09:47

What are you smelling OP and how are you smelling between your legs so well? People's genitals/ armpits etc do smell unless you wash 24/7, they are supposed to.

Do you think maybe you are over thinking this and worrying you smell when unless someone got really close to your area and sniffed in they wouldn't notice ?

VladmirsPoutine · 17/09/2022 09:52

Are you stained when you wake up? have you leaked? Is it recent? How are you washing, you aren't supposed to be scrubbing your vulva with all sorts of soap. I would also suggest the GP because more than anything else you shouldn't have such a pungent smell on waking.

KiraKiraHikaru · 17/09/2022 09:55

Have a wash before bed and make sure your really dry properly before bed. Use a hair dryer on a low setting. If your wet in the morning then I’d say you may be leaking.

Shinyandnew1 · 17/09/2022 09:57

What do you smell of? Who else can smell it?

Have a shower before bed as well?

Charlize43 · 17/09/2022 10:03

Also look at your nutrition. Changes in diet may help.

LouLou789 · 17/09/2022 10:17

There was a woman on one of the doctor programmes a couple of years ago with precisely this issue. It was caused by her being over-zealous with vulval hygiene and all sorts of cleansing products. Maybe just wash with plain water?

TitInATrance · 17/09/2022 10:19

Could be bacterial vaginosis? Go to your doctor.

PutinSmellsPassItOn · 17/09/2022 10:34

I get really sweaty between my legs etc, the only thing that's helped is switching over to soap (( forget the name but it's the yellow one )) . I have a good scrub with that first then go over with shower gel. Absolute game changer.

PutinSmellsPassItOn · 17/09/2022 10:36

And no I don't scrub my Mary with soap but all the creases etc. If the smell is coming from your vagina then it's BV. If you're washing it stop and get some antibiotics off your GP.

DoraSpenlow · 17/09/2022 10:43

Have you tried wearing a nightie rather than pj's?

BCBird · 17/09/2022 10:43

You're not the only one. Prepare ur mate in advance. I would not worry to be honest.

BCBird · 17/09/2022 10:44

I usually find one pit smells worse than the other too. What a catch🤣

21secondstogo · 17/09/2022 10:45

Has it always been the same or just recently?

pinkbear95 · 17/09/2022 10:45

Do you clean your vagina with a soft flannel every morning instead of just rinsing it with the shower head or something?

KosherDill · 17/09/2022 10:46

Shower gel is useless scented chemicals and uses environmentally unfriendly plastic bottles. A good mild soap is all anyone needs to be clean.

waterlego · 17/09/2022 10:47

I get a proper BO smell around that area (not from the vagina itself but the thigh/vulva crease- but only during my period and only for one day or so (and it’s always first thing in the morning).

Is yours a BO smell OP or something else? If it is fishy, it’s probably BV.

You're the first person I've ever heard refer to it as a Mary outside of my family 😲 we called it that too growing up and I thought my family were just crazy 🤣

Noteverybodylives · 17/09/2022 10:51

This doesn’t sound normal and I’d be going to my gp about BV.

The first thing they’ll ask is if you wash with soap though.

If you do you need to stop, as washing your vulva with soap can cause it to absolutely stink!

I washed mine with soap because I was planning to have a wax and omg the smell!
It smelt like gone off onions for almost a week!
It took about 2 weeks of washing with plain water to finally get it to stop smelling.
You can use soap everywhere else.

If you’re not using soap or products and it’s still smelling then it’s most likely BV and they’ll give you medicated stuff to use to stop the smell.

Everylittlethingsgonnabealright · 17/09/2022 10:53

Try cutting out alcohol, coffee and try a whole/fresh foods diet for a week or two and see if it helps? I always feel like I really smell in the morning when I’ve had gin or wine the night before!
