I can’t be the only one wondering where the BBC’s royal correspondent has got to these days. He’s not been heard from since the day they announced the queens death. Not that I miss the man, but surely he has the easiest job at the beeb.

Crikey haven't we mourned enough I hope that 7 days is just something about flags and the royal family wearing armbands or something. Everybody I know has had more than enough thanks.

This!

Surtsey · 15/09/2022 14:58

Jennie Bond was far better as Royal Correspondent.

vera99 · 15/09/2022 15:17

It's not a job that a proper journalist would want though, is it? So it tends to get the barrel scapers whose greatest skill seems to be to talk about nothing at length and repetitively for hours on end with anecdotage which needs to be spun like this guy....

Or those who love the Royal Family?

I would like to be a Royal Family journalist. It seems an easy gig.

vera99 · 15/09/2022 17:35

Being a journalist and loving the Royal family aren't mutually exclusive but one would hope if you are good at your profession you would aspire to be a bit more than a glorified Hello magazine copywriter.

antelopevalley · 15/09/2022 17:39

@vera99 I am lazy about work but very good at my job. I would be happy to be a royal journalist and have an easy job. They seem to just recycle press releases, information passed from the Royals and some rumours.

vera99 · 15/09/2022 18:03

You're right - or just read Tina Brown's excellent books watch the TV and speculate away. Harry and Meghan's hand holding 400 words by 7pm please....

antelopevalley · 15/09/2022 21:39

@vera99 Easy peasy.

Guardami · 19/09/2022 08:01

My thoughts and prayers are with the Royal family as they face this awful day 🥲 x

Guardami · 19/09/2022 08:02

Me neither - insincere toad of a man!

LynetteScavo · 19/09/2022 08:32

I really do t get the dislike for NW. I've met him in RL a few times (years ago) and he was perfectly lovely. I know The King isn't keen on him, but I don't get the MN hate for him. Confused Maybe now is a good time for him to retire, though.

Pedallleur · 19/09/2022 08:33

You would never win a Pulitzer prize but a steady gig, expenses, round the world travel and not too strenuous. If you like history, you do some studying so you have some knowledge and cultivate a friendship with the Royal press office. I'LL take it.

LadyEloise1 · 19/09/2022 09:40

Who is commentating on BBC 1 tv about those inside Westminster Abbey and doing fillers now ?
He sounds Irish.
Is it Feargal Keane ?
If it is, it's an unusual choice.

LadyEloise1 · 19/09/2022 10:01

It is Feargal Keane. Lovely mellifluous voice.

It is Feargal Keane. Lovely mellifluous voice.

Shared a table with him in a pub in Rome where we were both watching the 6 nations on TV. He has led an absolutely fascinating life, really interesting man. Not shy of a round either.

LadyEloise1 · 19/09/2022 15:56

There was a programme about him fairly recently on tv, he suffers from PTSD from his time in various war torn locations and has spoken openly about it.
His late uncle is the famous Irish playwright John B Keane.

antelopevalley · 19/09/2022 16:05

And all those people saying he must be a shit journalist to cover the Royals instead of wars.
Some horrible comments on this post.

Indeed. I much prefer listening to Feargal than ruddy Huw Edwards (another waffler, imho)!

As for slimey NW, hopefully he'll be pensioned off ASAP...and he can take Royal expert/historian Robert Lacey with him.

Love FK!

alimac09 · 19/09/2022 23:06

Well I think he's doing a fine job and so do many I imagine. Maybe not everyone's style of delivery, but really doesn't deserve such dissing and criticism.

alimac09 · 19/09/2022 23:09

I'm referring to Nicholas W btw.
