Center Parcs closing for funeral

Had the email to say Monday arrival delayed until Tuesday, can't get in until 4pm. 30% refund offered. From social media, it looks like people on a 7 night break are actually expected to leave at 10am on the Monday and not come back until Tuesday! People on a weekend break aren't being compensated for having to leave by 10am on the Monday.

AIBU to think wtf?!?!

They are making people who are doing the Friday to Friday (so this Friday to next Friday) LEAVE the site before 10am on Monday and they are not allowed to return until 10am on Tuesday!

Where as these people meant to go exactly?!

Absolute PR disaster for CP, whoever signed this off is an absolute idiot.

Yes you can, I’ve literally just in to their site and seen them available.

Plenty of media outlets talking about it now including someone from bbc Nottingham

I have seen comments where they have been told they can leave their belongings Monday night and come back Tuesday.

Don't some people stay for two weeks?

Sorry you are right..when I googled it said week breaks start on mondya so.i just based it on that but when you click onto the actual page it's the opposite.

Sorry!

And yes in that case it is completely mad!

User642986540 · 13/09/2022 13:53

Why would anyone return, just take the refund and go home and obviously never go back there again

seperatedmum · 13/09/2022 13:53

@FourTeaFallOut if you say so

DashboardConfessional · 13/09/2022 13:53

You can book Friday 7th October at Longleat for a week. I just tried.

And yet their website allows me to book a seven day break (covering the period they are closed) and starting on a Friday.

They changed their tune.

That screenshot is from Friday and pre-dates this decision

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 13/09/2022 13:54

That's bonkers. We're booked to stay in a caravan park on Monday, but will arrive later in the day. Heard nothing about them not opening and I would be mightily peed off if they did. Skeleton staff would be fine, and a lot of young people aren't actually that bothered from what I hear.

Blueeyedgirl21 · 13/09/2022 13:54

They’ve not even amended the website to show you can’t be there on the Monday. So you can still book that date. Absolute amateur behaviour lol

SantaCarlaCalifornia · 13/09/2022 13:55

I think this is the worst PR decision I've ever seen.

They're going to have to backtrack on it, aren't they?

I've never been to a Center Parcs and am never likely to (too expensive for me), but if I were I would certainly never trust them to book with again.

shinynewapple22 · 13/09/2022 13:56

justaladyLOL · 13/09/2022 12:59

So one if the most historic events for years and you think people should miss out so you can play??
Really??
You many not want to watch but the vast majority do

"But yes, wtf indeed. Surely grown ups can make their own decisions about observing state funerals or not?"
Not if they are forced to work so your kids can play on a historic day

Don't be silly. There are many workplaces where people have to work on a rota 24/7.

Agree with people saying to close facilities for a limited time on the Monday (eg 10.00 to 5 PM) could be considered reasonable . But no way should they expect people to check out on Monday if they were expecting to be there for a full week . Honestly I find it hard to believe they are even considering this .

seperatedmum · 13/09/2022 13:53

@FourTeaFallOut if you say so

Well it would ruin my holiday. I go away to relax and unwind, not to up sticks and decamp to different accomodation in the middle of a break.

AlinaSquareQueen · 13/09/2022 13:57

My DS has just WhatsApped me saying he’s going to duct tape his wrists to the underside of the Rapid’s bridge singing “I’m not leavin’”….

OR

….. do the high ropes challenge and refuse to come down.

GhostFromTheOtherSide · 13/09/2022 13:58

I’m sure the staff who are being given the day off are going to be ecstatic when they’re made redundant because the revenue has dropped because of all the people refusing to go back there after this.

They absolutely will lose business over this.

vera99 · 13/09/2022 13:59

The Queen actually visited one in 1998.

YABU.

Centre Parcs have staff. Staff that are difficult to recruit and retain. This time they have prioritised their staff over their guests. They are also being respectful.

Especially housekeeping staff, who may just want to watch the funeral 🤷🏻

Blueeyedgirl21 · 13/09/2022 13:45

People on Twitter are saying they’re not leaving on the Monday 😂 they’re just going to sit in their lodges and not leave. I hope they actually follow through with it

Me too, what will they do?
🤣

User642986540 · 13/09/2022 14:03

If you are going Friday, easiest to just cancel whole lot, holiday would be horrible anyway with this in mind

SillySausage21356 · 13/09/2022 14:05

You are NOT being unreasonable - that is disgusting

I would understand if they said the shops and entertainments were closing for a few hours on the MOnday but to just expect people to accept this is shite

pinok · 13/09/2022 14:06

if people on a fri-fri break have travelled from afar what are they supposed to do on the Monday night?

Pay the price for a family to check in at a nearby hotel for a night before returning the next day??

Hopefully CP will be willing to cover the costs of alternative accommodation

Harridan1981 · 13/09/2022 14:08

If people leave and come back, do they have to pack everything? Surely that is a huge security issue, all of those chalets will have to be checked etc, a massive staffing concern? What a lot of extra work!
