I've just seen that too. I feel really sad even though I am not a royalist but she was a damn good queen.

ThisIsNotThePostYourLookingFor · 08/09/2022 18:42

Not a royalist either but it’s very sad. I hope her family made it in time to say goodbye

SavoirFlair · 08/09/2022 18:43

RIP Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

not sure what on Earth this post is for @Energypanic other than to be first with the news?

We all have smartphones etc, was there something in particular you wanted to discuss in AIBU or is this now the official tribute thread? YABU.

Xoxoxoxoxoxox · 08/09/2022 18:45

Feel unexpectedly sad about it, end of an era.

Againstmachine · 08/09/2022 18:46

Yes you are being unreasonable, not sure why we need umpteen threads in AIBU

StridTheKiller · 08/09/2022 18:46

I feel really fucking sad and empty. And i am normally anti-monarchy. It's like even Queenie has had enough of it all.

Fully agreed @Againstmachine but some folk just want to be “first” and “special”.

Mrsfussypants1 · 08/09/2022 18:47

God bless the Queen.

Saves me typing out how I feel. You got it.

Blondewithredlips · 08/09/2022 18:47

RIP she was an amazing queen. Will be badly missed.

Howdoisawwithnosaw · 08/09/2022 18:48

Poor woman spent her penultimate day on Earth meeting Liz Truss and Boris Johnson.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 08/09/2022 18:49

Very sad news. I am glad she made it to the Jubilee, and I hope and pray her passing was peaceful and pain free, and that her family were able to say their goodbyes.

She was an amazing woman, and a dedicated monarch, and I have the greatest respect for her and the work she did. She leaves very big (court) shoes for Charles to fill.

Same.

What's with the snarky responses on this thread?!

2018SoFarSoGreat · 08/09/2022 18:50

I'm surprised how upset I am at this news. Not a royalist, but she was such a strong hard working woman, I could not help but be in awe of her.

My DM looked like her as she aged, to her eternal pride. That familiarity touched my heart.

Go rest, now Lizzie. You've done your hard work.

Ludo19 · 08/09/2022 18:50

Just goes to show the true sense of duty to meet Liz Truss to appoint her the PM.

I'm not a royalist but the Queen was a true monarch in every sense of the word.
May you rest in peace x

GoldenOmber · 08/09/2022 18:51

yanbu.

Againstmachine · 08/09/2022 18:51

*Same.

Because we have multiple posts about it, and this is AIBU so you can be told you are.

If you don't want that response post it in correct place

End of an era 💫

Wow even though she was 96 and frail, still a bit of a shock, all seemed to happen so quick Sad

LloydsBlackHorse · 08/09/2022 18:51

RIP - what an astonishing life she led and regardless of anyone's stance on the monarchy she has been a great role model for steadfastness and loyalty throughout an incredible period in history which is an achievement in itself.

Felixfriend · 08/09/2022 18:52

Very much an end of an era. A life well lived. May she rest in peace.
I feel very sad. And rather inspired. A life of true service, even though it wasn’t always recognised as such, because of the luxury she lived in. But it was service, nonetheless. Her life was predetermined, but she gave her all, for us, till the very end.

Not a royalist at all but they are playing god save the queen on the radio and I've tears in my eyes, feel really emotional. Even though we all knew it would be soon its still a shock!

Working right up until the very end.

Say what you like about the Royal Family, but the Queen genuinely believed in duty and serving her country. I'm not surprised she only managed just over a year without her beloved Philip.

I think this is the first time I've felt genuinely sad about the death of a famous person. I always had a soft spot for the Queen.

Agreed.
A bit distasteful, to treat a family’s loss as an opportunity to rush to MN, where it’s bleeding obvious that plenty of posters are following the news anyway.

Bubblyinblanch · 08/09/2022 18:56

Why would she put more than a link? Why does that make the OP a twat?
