No matter peoples thoughts about the royal family, it cannot be denied she was a great woman.

I feel so sad. I wouldn't have imagined I'd have felt this way.

Does anyone else feel like their living their life in a history book?

Comeintomylife9 · 08/09/2022 18:59

I'm genuinely in shock.

YoniWheretheSunDontShine · 08/09/2022 19:00

It is shocking because she was greeting the new pm only two days ago!!

Extraordinary

You can't really be shocked that a person in their late 90's has died

Energypanic · 08/09/2022 19:01

I know emotions are running high because of the news but it's no excuse to be rude. I came to mumsnet to find out how other people we're feeling about the news and didn't find a thread in this section to post on so I started my own.

I posted only the link as I wanted the thread to be a place for people to discus their own feelings and not have it be dominated by replies to my own thoughts.

She can now rest and meet her husband again. RIP. Very upsetting.

Cherrysherbet · 08/09/2022 19:01

Bless her. Thoughts are with her family.

End of an era.

SofiaSoFar · 08/09/2022 19:01

Completely agree. Very distasteful.

Take no notice. Thanks for the thread x

Not a royalist but feel so sad and unsettled. She's been queen through so many generations and it just feels strange knowing she's not in the world anymore.

In AIBU, of all places.

Does it really matter fgs.

You couldn't find a thread come on pull the other one, there's loads and loads on AIBU where you posted this.

So you still haven't said what your AIBU is.

Againstmachine · 08/09/2022 19:05

Does it really matter fgs.

Well don't moan if people tell you differently.

She was one of the last constants.

We've lived through so much unsettling shit the last few years, but the Queen was always the Queen. Now she's gone.

I think it also brings home the truth that everyone does die, and if you're currently worried about a relative who is close to the end, this just reinforces the stark truth that death comes for us all.

BrokenMatress · 08/09/2022 19:06

What date will the funeral be ?

EarringsandLipstick · 08/09/2022 19:07

How do you think people will be feeling? A thread fine; AIBU - odd

nachoavocado · 08/09/2022 19:08

Even when a great Monarch has passed, people can still bitch about triviality. Disgusting.

FloydWasACat · 08/09/2022 19:10

Againstmachine I think this was actually the first post about this if you look at the time it was posted, so maybe less moaning on this thread maybe?

AffIt · 08/09/2022 19:11

BrokenMatress · 08/09/2022 19:06

What date will the funeral be ?

I think in about ten days, according to Operation Unicorn / Operation London Bridge.

Because she died in Scotland, she will lie in state at Holyrood for two days (I think?), then five days at Westminster Abbey, before a full state funeral, so I think the actual date will be week commencing 26 September (ish).

AffIt · 08/09/2022 19:12

Argh, week commencing 19 September (misread my calendar).

RocketPanda · 08/09/2022 19:16

I'm not a fan of the Royals and am not British, nor living in the UK. I feel saddened at the news of the Queens passing. She made history in Ireland in 2011, laying a wreath in the Garden of Remembrance and in her speech in Dublin Castle. She devoted her life to her role and despite her obvious frailty fulfilled it until her final hours.

There was loads about the queen.

And it's posted in AIBU we still are no closer to the issue.

Poor woman spent her penultimate day on Earth meeting Liz Truss and Boris Johnson.

That thought has just made me feel really sad on her behalf!
