YoniWheretheSunDontShine · 08/09/2022 19:18

Against, there are going to be tons of threads on her

This is a chat forum and this is what people Will chat about.

So it's probably best you step off Mumsnet for a while if it's going to upset you.

Againstmachine · 08/09/2022 19:21

Nope I think OP is being unreasonable, stop telling me to stay off Mumsnet, maybe OP should post in correct place

InChocolateWeTrust · 08/09/2022 19:22

Not a royalist but it feels like the end of a period of history, and at the end of the day she gave this country 70 years, at times what was a bloody gruelling job. I was proud to be born in the Elizabethan era.

BatshitBanshee · 08/09/2022 19:26

I'm Irish, I normally don't have any opinion on the royals but I'm sad - it's not unexpected obviously but I'm sure for a lot of people in the UK she was a constant in their lives, and their memories of the Queen are tied up in memories of their parents and grandparents who are perhaps now also long gone. It is sad, it's the end of a tremendous era. I am happy for her though that she will be reunited with Prince Philip. I think a part of her died with him.

Mydpisgrumpierthanyours · 08/09/2022 19:27

It's so sad. She was respected by so many even those who arent royalists.
It's all most of us have ever known.
Not sure I can get used to saying king.
We will be seeing him on stamps and money soon.

So get yourself off to the mods and get them to move the thread, instead of seeking attention.

Just goes to show the true sense of duty to meet Liz Truss to appoint her the PM.

I'm not a royalist but the Queen was a true monarch in every sense of the word.
May you rest in peace x

I think she must have got out of her bed to do this last one, she must have been very frail and week.

Not in the spirit

Some lovely photos of the Queen on BBC. Huw Edward's doing a great job.

I feel really fucking sad and empty. And i am normally anti-monarchy. It's like even Queenie has had enough of it all.

This

FloydWasACat · 08/09/2022 19:33

Againstmachine does it really in the grand scheme of life matter where the OP posted it?

Of course it doesn't. Do you jump on every other thread posted on AIBU when the is nothing AIBU about it? No, course you don't. Just don't read them, simple as that really.

piddocktrumperiness · 08/09/2022 19:37

Just wondering, for planning and logistical purposes, do we think the funeral will be on Sunday the 18th? as it's 10 days after death, or would it be held on a weekday?

Againstmachine · 08/09/2022 19:37

I can post where I want but still noone is telling me the AIBU.

piddocktrumperiness · 08/09/2022 19:38

Just wanted to add that my family and I want to be in London for the funeral- which is why I asked. Didn't want to come across as insensitive

Monday55 · 08/09/2022 19:39

Very upsetting news. I haven't been feeling well today and the news is making me feel weaker.

I hope for the next 10days the world will pause and be united in remembrance of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

XmasElf10 · 08/09/2022 19:41

Not a royalist but also surprisingly sad about this. She was a hard working woman who appeared to have a good sense of humour that she wasn’t able to express in public often. May she rest in peace.

Againstmachine · 08/09/2022 19:37

I think you have proven you are the unreasonable one. You've certainly had enough of my time.

You’ve hit the nail on the head there.

FloydWasACat · 08/09/2022 19:47

Againstmachine Well, if you can post where you want so can anyone else including the OP.

bellabasset · 08/09/2022 19:48

I don't think Christian funerals are held on a Sunday. I suspect it will be on the Monday and it's likely to be a bank holiday
Diana's funeral wasn't officially a state funeral so it was held on the Saturday and as anyone who was in London will tell you it was packed all weekend

Energypanic · 08/09/2022 20:03

Will the funeral be a "normal" bank holiday? I'm tying to figure out the logistics of DH's oxygen tank delivery as that normally comes on a Monday and wont last until Tuesday.

OP posts:
LloydsBlackHorse · 08/09/2022 20:04

I think I read that it would not be a Bank Holiday.

VestaTilley · 08/09/2022 20:06

May she rest in peace. It’s devastating. We will not see her like again.

Princesspeony · 08/09/2022 20:07

The funeral will be on Monday the 19th. Don’t know if it’ll be a bank holiday or not though.

Culldesack · 08/09/2022 20:08

Surely it WILL be a BH.
