What else would King Charles be known as? I don't understand this comment on the news

He is allowed to chose his royal name. Queen's dad was Albert and choose to use George. Some people thought Charles would also assume George but he has chosen to be known as Charles III instead.

Some monarchs choose to use their middle name or another name. There was speculation he would choose "King George".

@Energypanic Thank you for explaining

Coulddowithanap · 08/09/2022 20:40

Someone on my work chat group has already said a nasty joke about the Queen's death. It's really upset me, so very disrespectful.

I can post where I want but still noone is telling me the AIBU.

Why does anyone have to tell you the AIBU, @Againstmachine? Do you have some sort of editorial power or responsibility, to ensure that the sacred bounds of AUBU are never breached?

Frankly, this is not the moment for such nit-picking pedantry, and this is not the place for it either. People are genuinely saddened by this news, and it would cost you nothing to respect that, and to stop trying to derail the thread.

You don’t have to feel sad, or want to discuss the news, but it is just nasty to try to upset people who are sad and do want that discussion. And saying “Ner, ner, ner - you can’t stop me posting wherever I want” (I paraphrase), just looks immature and childish.

Againstmachine · 08/09/2022 20:50

I want to know what the AIBU is because it's in this forum.

I'm not being childish it's a valid question.

And yes a 96 year old has died unless you knew her having grief is very weird.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 08/09/2022 20:56

No-one owes you an answer, @Againstmachine. It may well be a valid question - that doesn’t give you the right to bang on and on about it. I suspect what you really want is for someone to say “Actually there isn’t really an AIBU” so you can shout “Gotcha” and feel pleased with yourself.

And I didn’t say your question was childish - what I said was childish was your insistence that no-one can tell you where to post - which has a clear “So There!” tone to it.

Yes, you can post wherever you want, but why do you want to derail a thread for people who have different feelings to you, about the death of the Queen? Why can’t you just leave it, and us, alone?

They have just confirmed that Liz Truss knew of the Queens death around 15:30 today. Which means she died a lot earlier in the afternoon.

Completely agree. Very distasteful.

🙄🙄 OP ignore idiots like this completely! Distasteful is picking a fight straight after this sort of announcement.

Do you have a link for that? I'm interested to see what went on behind the scenes.

It was announced on TRT news during their live broadcast. But I've also now seen others saying Liz knew at 16:30 announced by BBC. So info around it is still uncertain
