To ask you to help me solve this mystery

We've just come back from holiday, and I can't mind my Apple Watch which I left at home. The watch will obviously have run out of battery.

The FindMy app is pinging a signal everyday, and it's giving several addresses. Sometimes it's saying it's at our address. It's currently saying it's next door, and occasionally says it's 2 doors away.

I've turned the house upside down twice in an attempt to find it.

Is the biggest likelihood that it's somewhere in the house, but the app just gets the address wrong sometimes? Or is it possible I dropped it on the street before we left, and a neighbour has picked it up?

How long does the battery normally last?

Hshhshsh · 28/08/2022 22:32

Sorry just seen you said it would likely have ran out... Your neighbour must have it then?

ilkleymoorbartat · 28/08/2022 22:32

Why do you say the neighbour must have it??

ilkleymoorbartat · 28/08/2022 22:33

It's pinging our address occasionally too.

Have you asked next door and two doors away ?

ilkleymoorbartat · 28/08/2022 22:34

I've asked 2 doors away because I know them well. I've also messaged the street WhatsApp.

Our iPhones often tell us they’re next door, or the other side of the cul-de-sac, even when we’re holding them! So it’s most likely in the house. Hope you find it soon. If it was mine it would be in the sock drawer or between the bed and bedside table.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 28/08/2022 22:34

Can't help with the address situation, but did you, absent mindedly and at the last minute, think 'oh, I'd better put that somewhere hidden in case we get burgled/someone looks thru the window'

It's the kind of thing I do and only find whatever it is when I buy a new one and go to put it on a 'safe place' when I immediately discover the original one 🤦‍♂️

IodineQueen · 28/08/2022 22:35

Do you have a cat?

ilkleymoorbartat · 28/08/2022 22:37

Thank you! Ok so good to know FindMy app can be inaccurate.

And yes @GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut that's exactly the sort of thing I'd do but I've looked EVERYWHERE!!

We do have a cat, do you reckon he's guilty @IodineQueen, he is a shifty character tbf.

Go stand in the place you first thought you'd leave it at home and it may come back to you. I do this all the time.

drunktrifle · 28/08/2022 22:42

Yes, for some reason DS1's phone almost always shows up if it's at the end of our road when it's in the house.

EllieRosesMammy · 28/08/2022 22:42

Crazy question but is it... on your wrist?

I only ask because I know people who have done stuff like this (definetely not me, some other person matching my description) 👀

ilkleymoorbartat · 28/08/2022 22:45

@EllieRosesMammy this is exactly the sort of thing that I'd do normally. Not this time though.

Looks like I'm going to have to go into for round 3 of turning the house upside down. Reassuring to know that it's probably here though, even though it's pinging elsewhere.

Jacket pockets?
Gym bag?
Cutlery drawer?
Work bag?
Bathroom cabinet?
Car glovebox?
Ironing basket?
Magazine rack?
Between mattress & bed frame?

ilkleymoorbartat · 28/08/2022 22:50

Thank you @Population51201 going to go through all these now

KrisAkabusi · 28/08/2022 22:52

It's somewhere that doesn't have a good signal, that's why the address is variable. S o think buried deep in the couch, inside the washing machine, outside in the car or garden, that sort of thing.

FeelinglikeEeyore · 28/08/2022 22:55

If it is any consolation, I hid my purse 'somewhere safe' before going on holiday 5 weeks ago (just took my cards and currency in a smaller purse) and it still hasn't turned up

Mariokartedoff · 28/08/2022 23:00

Have you lifted everything up?

Everything in our house that is 'missing' is actually just underneath or behind something that some idiot (DH) needs to move to find it.

LadyEggs · 28/08/2022 23:02

Have you asked St Anthony? He occasionally comes through for me Smile

Yes! To quote Frankie Heck "Try moving stuff around"

Titterofwit · 28/08/2022 23:04

When we lost a sum of money I drew a map of the house and tried divination with a crystal pendant hanging over the map. Ive has some success before with this method.
Told the crystal to swing across rather than round to indicate where the lost thing was.
We gave it up as a bad job when the crystal kept swinging across on the stairs part of the map.
Weeks later I found the money safely at the bottom of the laundry basket.
Oh - and the laundry basket is kept under the stairs!

Pity neither of us had the brains to work out what the pendant was telling us.

Goingtofast · 28/08/2022 23:05

It will be in the house, my phone always thinks I’m exactly 2 door along from my house.

BatshitBanshee · 28/08/2022 23:05

Give up looking and buy yourself a new one, preferably with no returns. Guaranteed to find it then.

Novum · 28/08/2022 23:17

DD once had a major panic because the finder app was showing her iPad in the street outside her flat and she thought she had been burgled. When she checked it was in the desk where she'd left it. So I strongly suspect your watch is at home.
