We've just come back from holiday, and I can't mind my Apple Watch which I left at home. The watch will obviously have run out of battery.

The FindMy app is pinging a signal everyday, and it's giving several addresses. Sometimes it's saying it's at our address. It's currently saying it's next door, and occasionally says it's 2 doors away.

I've turned the house upside down twice in an attempt to find it.

Is the biggest likelihood that it's somewhere in the house, but the app just gets the address wrong sometimes? Or is it possible I dropped it on the street before we left, and a neighbour has picked it up?

Could you have left it somewhere where you or the cat may have knocked it down?

ScurryfungeMaster · 28/08/2022 23:24

Things like this usually show up in random places like stuck behind a draw or shoved between clothes. It's quite common for the location to be a bit off so it's probably somewhere in your house. Since you have a cat have you looked on top of furniture/kitchen cabinets and under the furniture or even in their pet bed?

Sorry if I've missed this but have you tried the play sound thing through find my app? If it's giving a location maybe the battery isn't dead (also I can see on my iPhone widget how much power is left)

AWafferthinmint · 28/08/2022 23:35

Could you have left it in your car?

Lottle · 28/08/2022 23:41

Handbag?
Suit case?
Gym clothes pockets?
Dressing gown pockets?
Bathrooms?
Near washing machine?
Near its charger?
Down sofa?
Behind or under place it is normally charged?
Under sofa?
Did you lend it to someone?

If I've looked and looked for something and can't find it, I temporarily give up and just start tidying up and doing normal household jobs and it normally turns up.

Good luck!

Check behind your radiators. I discovered a tv remote that had been missing for months when I balanced a hair brush on the radiator and it slipped down the back and became lodged just above the skirting board.

ThirtyThreeTrees · 28/08/2022 23:51

Use the app and play sound in every room, the car, the shed, the garden. It's definitely there.

Also when do you take it off? Check bathroom, make up bag, dressing gown, everything that was there when you last had a shower.

Do you take it off in bed, check bedside drawers, in the pillow case or in the duvet etc? Under bed etc.

Really play the retrsck your steps game. Don't just remember, walk it, it will trigger something.

Hill1991 · 28/08/2022 23:54

Do you have kids I'm saying this because we'd lost the firestick remote and he'd shoved it under a thick mattress topper found it 2 weeks later when I was leaning on something at it was changing the channel but couldn't feel it through the topper

Tillow4ever · 29/08/2022 00:05

Usually when the battery has died, it says location unknown OR it shows last known location and has a date/time on there.

So if your watch is showing a current location, it is either in someone else's possession and they've charged it OR it somehow hasn't ran out of charge. Do you have a charging stand that you perhaps put it on as you were leaving?

As someone else suggested, try the "play sound" function on it. If you even slightly suspect a neighbour might have stolen in, stand outside their house before pressing the button and listen carefully. It's most likely in your house on charge somewhere though!

Tillow4ever · 29/08/2022 00:06

Also, if you click the device on find my iPhone app, it tells you how much battery life is left - so click that and see what it's showing. If the battery bar is full, it's on charge somewhere I'm sure!

KimberleyClark · 29/08/2022 00:22

I thought I’d lost a watch. Or to be exact I thought I’d left it at the holiday cottage we’d just been at. Looked everywhere - then found it, in its case, behind a framed photograph on top of the piano.

ilkleymoorbartat · 29/08/2022 12:52

I can't see an option to see how much charge it has. I've tried playing the alert, but I haven't had an email to say that it's been played (I've tested my iPhone and that's what happens when I do it to that), which makes me suspect it's not charged?

My other question is, will the phone play the sound if it's off??

WhatICallMyUsername · 29/08/2022 20:30

@ilkleymoorbartat if you go to the screen on the left of your Home Screen, down to the bottom select edit then tap the plus in the top left corner. Search for a widget called batteries and add it and it will show you the amount of charge left or if it's dead

My other question is, will the phone play the sound if it's off??

Can you try it?

Check in the fridge
Sofa cushions
Under bed

WhatICallMyUsername · 29/08/2022 20:46

I've just switched mine off and tried the play sound function and it didn't work unfortunately

WhatICallMyUsername · 29/08/2022 20:47

Also did you have it on the day you were due to go away and if so check what you were wearing (depending on time of day and if you were dressed) dressing gown pocket, trouser pockets, coat pockets

LadyEggs · 03/09/2022 22:40

Did you find it OP?

ilkleymoorbartat · 04/09/2022 00:03

My sister has a brilliant method of finding lost things, which usually works. Some part of your brain knows where you left the watch.

Where was the very first place you went to look for it when you got home? That's where it is. Go back there and look harder. It will have fallen off the table, or someone put a jumper on top of it or something. If that doesn't work, ask another family member to look there also.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 04/09/2022 02:11

Check inside boots and shoes……

I’ve found all sorts of small things in mine - good luck!!!!

Bluesparkled · 04/09/2022 03:04

You’ve not been in a hurry and not done it up properly and dropped it in the garden?
Mine is nearly always in the bathroom/dressing gown pocket/fallen down into the sofa bed.

BobbysGirly · 04/09/2022 05:48

i usually find mine either in my dressing gown pocket, under my pillow or in my bedside cupboard drawer.
