To wonder what is out there in space that they’re not telling us?

Something is out there.

If you look into the sky you see a million different stars shining back at you. We are told these are all suns in the sky. And we are then told that in those million suns there is absolutely nothing out there? It’s not true. It’s very likely that they are already known about and have made themselves aware to us on many occasions. Why are we being kept in the dark again?

Imagine that you were an ant that lived under a rock. You would think that rock was your whole world. You wouldn’t know that somewhere out there is a whole race humans. In this situation we are the ants but what are the humans?

Why do you think it’s being kept from us? The stars you see are imaginably far away, the light takes so long to travel to be seen from earth you’re actually seeing what the stars looked like several years ago. We don’t have anywhere near the technology to explore yet.

YANBU to wonder what's out there, I'm fascinated by space.
I definitely think there's more life out there somewhere, there must be, there can't just be us!
YABU to think there's some big conspiracy going on with an alien cover up though
So can't vote as YANBU but at the same time YABU 😁

Leafy3 · 27/08/2022 23:54

You weren't posting the other night about the water supply were you?

MonaLena · 27/08/2022 23:54

Just look up at the sky and tell me what you see

They’ve covered so many things up. Just ask the US government after WW2 when they employer nazi scientists and didn’t tell anyone

Like at the end of Men In Black with the whole universe in a locker!
Blows my mind just thinking about it lol

Or if this is more your thing, OP.

Who is telling you this? I don't know anyone who thinks there is absolutely nothing out there. Who are you getting your information from?

Brahumbug · 27/08/2022 23:56

You also can't see millions of stars with the naked eye. Your post is gibberish. Who says anything is being kept from us? New data is published all the time, just look at the images from the James Webb space telescope.

That’s it right now. We are the ants on a rock on a planet in a universe in the locker

I am obviously not meaning millions literally

Brian Cox’s latest tour is about how we have a duty to be curious. But there’s curious, there’s science and there’s batshit craziness like aliens they aren’t telling us about.

I live near Brecon. Prime army training ground. Last night there were 5 helicopters hovering low over houses in the early hours. About a thousand of the locals are convinced it was UFO related.

MonaLena · 27/08/2022 23:57

Also the question we all really want to know

whats on Mars? Why is everyone so keen to get there? What are they hiding up there?

MoistBandana · 27/08/2022 23:58

The best theory is Listers on Red Dwarf.

There's loads of aliens, but they know about human beings and consider us parasites. Don't go to earth, it's got human beings on it.

The truth is.
The size of the universe is so monumental it's almost impossible to comprehend.

The nearest sun to ours is Proxima Centauri. It's about 4.2 light years away.
That's 24690226567372.8 miles away.
On perspective... That's equal to going around the earth's circumference.. 991535543.447 times.

It's a staggering distance.

The chances of intelligent life is fairly high. The chance that they've advanced.so.far that they can travel those distances faster than light, that's a bit slimmer.

Sparklesocks · 27/08/2022 23:58

Think about it this way OP - if the light from the stars takes several years to reach us, and nothing is faster than the speed of light, what sort of technology/ship would you need to actively explore it? Some of the stars we see may not exist anymore. It’s not that we fundamentally know there’s nothing out there, but we are practically in the Stone Age when it comes to the tech we’d need to find out.

DaphneSprucesPippasClack · 28/08/2022 00:01

I am totally convinced that you are responsible for a whole load of ridiculous posts over the last week posing more and more Bonkers questions to get a reaction. Obviously using a host of different profiles or n/c each time. Are you bored?

DoubleYolker · 28/08/2022 00:01

Who’s “they”?

MrsTerryPratchett · 28/08/2022 00:02

Of course there are aliens. It's glaringly obvious. Your theory is 'we' don't know because 'they' aren't telling us. That's the bollocks part. It human exceptionalism.

You think aliens would seek us out. Why?

We are in a backwater part of the galaxy, away from everything. We aren't technologically advanced and we are polluting and killing our planet. If the aliens were looking for nice lower life forms to ooo and aaaah at, they'd choose polar bear types, not cockroaches.

And Mars is just close and easier than anywhere else to get to. It's not special.

Yes I agree. The main thing to consider is that on Mars there is untapped potential or maybe a message. How could any of us know what’s on Mars? But the powers at the top could know what or who is up there. We are told there’s billions of stars but maybe life is on a much smaller scale ? Maybe the universe is this solo system and no more

There is more out there .

When I was 10 I saw a huge orange triangle hovering above the trees opposite my house. Totally silent .
It wasn't solid - I can't describe it . It was silent - hovered for around 30 seconds then twisted through the trees and shot off faster than anything I've ever seen

All silent

I was accused of dreaming it except a group of workmen leaving a factory at 10 pm saw it too . They reported it to police and there was a piece in the local paper next day . So I definitely saw what I saw . I feel privileged tbh . It was completely out of this world . This was 40 years ago now . I've never ever forgotten it .
